No it isn't.  If Martin needs 15 guaranteed orders, then that's the minimum to make it viable.

People seem to think that resin casting is easy, a case of "can you mould/cast a one off for me?"
Rubber and resin has to be bought in bulk.  I don't know exactly how much rubber it'd take to do the moulds but I'd guess 2kg and that's £60 before factoring in the resin.  For a one off cast?

No. Ifs, tempted's and maybes do not cut it.

True.  If someone wants one, they have to put their hand up and say so.

Correct on all counts Lee.

Be warned, what you see in the photo that Jaybee posted up, is what you get. there is no canopy, pylons or under carriage. You will need to raid the spares box for those items. And you will need to invest in shares of your preferred putty brand.
I always hope for the best.

Moulding is also messy and time consuming.  Each mould is a one shot affair - you can't reuse the rubber (actually, you can, sort of, but that's not the point).  If the mould is off, you have to do it again.  Each one takes a minimum of 24hrs to cure and some will be two piece moulds, so add another 24hrs.

And when you DO have the mould and you get casting, the resin can be off or you get big air bubbles.  Gash parts are thus valueless and add costs to the parts that are saleable (unless you're Unicraft who puts out any old tat). Not only that, they increase wear and tear on the mould. And then you have a mould or set of moulds that might just sit there for months before anyone decides they want another piece/kit.

Again, why should those of us who do our own casting go through all that for a one off cast? All on the offchance that someone *might* be willing to pay for a kit?

What a BIZARRE looking aeroplane, but typical Hawker thinking.

Count me in.........  :thumbsup: ;) ;)

What's the difference between a 1214 and a 1216 anyway?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

1214 = forward swept wing
1216 = normal swept wing

Ahah, thanks so much.  :thumbsup:

More possibilities than you could shake a stick at now......

If anyone *needs* landing gear, I do all my planes flying, so have dozens of the things lying around.....

And I'm going to say I count for 2, so I can do a 1214 AND a 1216

That makes 7.

PLUS

Maybe Devilfish (c'mon, you *know* you want to....!)
Maybe MiG31 at Britmodeller as an "interested party"

Getting there.....!!!

For best results you really need about 30-35 people to put their hands up because normal response is for about 1/2 of the folks who say "I will!" turn around & say "I wont!"

Still, stay hopeful! :thumbsup:

PS: I still think the P.1214-3 looks prettier! :wacko:

The 1214 is quite a bit different in shape than the 1216, i used the Esci EF2000 kit for the 1214 and the Italeri Eurofighter for the 1216 as the the Esci profile was smaller and leaner than the Italeri.

You could of course try scratch building them, i did  and its not to bad as long as your happy with working with plastic card and milliput.
