Examples of Old Wombat's stuff.

OK, gentle-modelling-persons, I have realised that I've been hanging around here without giving any of you an idea of what I can produce.

So, here is a taste of what I have built since I re-joined the hobby in late-2008.

Most of it is Science Fiction & has been posted on Starship Modeler.

1st up is my Centurion Mk.XI reconnaissance hovertank:

2nd is an exploration vehicle used on a future Earth, 50,000-100,000 years after human life is wiped out on the planet.

Sub-light but near light-speed travel returns an Ark-type spaceship to Earth approx 4-or-6 generations after it left.

And with that we have this little hovercraft & some crew (the armed scout is from the tracked EV).

3rd is actually my 1st build back.

Set in the world of the movies "28 Days Later" & "28 Weeks Later" this vehicle is the main piece of a diorama I call "28 Months Later".
My premise is that the "rage" virus is still around & is something of a problem still (possibly having mutated somewhat) but that the biggest problem is re-establishing some kind of functioning society in a world full of marauders, monsters & megalomaniacs. The Land-Rover is a recce vehicle for a column of nomadic scavengers hunting for a place where there are none of the aforementioned problems.

Yeah, I'm a follower of the "Slammers".... Well, Dave Drake's writings, anyway.... The tank was only partially inspired by them, though. It was, largely, just for the fun of entering the SSM "Hovertanks Challenge". However, I stole the concept of "supertanks" as the reason that the Centurion XI was a reconn. tank rather than a MBT, plus the main gun can be either a "plasma" cannon (read "power gun") or a rail gun.
