QuoteOh, say...seven engines (2+3+2), tails seperate, two cockpits (helpful if one side takes flak up the nose  )...
Most definitely!  Especially since there were some proposed versions with twin vertical tails on the tailplane tips.
Thanks a lot for these directions, I will try to draw that next week-end, probably.
Evan : do you mean a H H tail like the Ju 290Z ? or something like Glenn's Grenville Twin-Lancaster?
Swamphen : could you contact me by E-mail to give me your postal address (to receive a free copy of my CD "Supplement No.2 to 'Forked Ghosts' " late this year? (Elmayerle and Aircavpinkteam are already on the list, of course). The same for Sisko and JoeP, creators of the He222Z and Z-2 of another topic: please send me your postal address...

the HH tail, I've got the drawings "somewhere", I think they came with a Polish book (Kagero?) on the He177/274/277.

Without E-mail, it is possible to use the (Personal) Message-board/Control-Panel of this site: Click on my underlined name, then in the Communicate part, click on Personal Message, write your letter, then click on Send Message. Well done tool, thanks Supertom...
I had almost forget this tool, and discovered today personal messages to myself from Ollie/JHM/Elmayerle dating from February to April. Sorry not to have answered before...

Tophe - in your personal settings you can set it to automatically notify you when you get a PM.

I like the setting that has it tell you when you log into the site that you've got a PM.  A most useful feature.

Now that's a monster! Looking jolly good, ol' chap, delighted to have been of service.  ;)

I love this thread.  The 177 is my personal favorite.  Love your work thus far.  Only one note:  most german "Zwillings" did not have a constant chord horiz. stabilizer.  You could have left off the center rear tail section entirely and it woulld be in-line with german pratices.  Still, the full tailplane looks much nicer to me.

I actually have 2x me 321 gliders standing by to do the Me 323 Z with 9x BMW 801's......(actually saw a reference to this in one of my books..no photos or plans, though....)

I'm not sick....really...err..umm..what's with the syringe and white coat...NO WAIT GET AWAY FROM MEEEEE.....

Quotemost german "Zwillings" did not have a constant chord horiz. stabilizer.
My source was "Secret German Aircraft Projects of 1945", Toros pub, and I do not see the problem. Uncommon is not impossible, especially for us...

The Me323Z was illustrated in my book "Supplement No.1 to 'Forked Ghosts' " but just as provisional, the only source I had mentionning 9 engines, without explaining if there was one or two cockpits, connecting tailplane or separate (symetrical or external only)... If you find more, I would be interested. :)

Tophe/Swamphen,

There's one minor problem I noticed with your He-277Z: the gap betwixt the tail units.  It probably wouldn't be much of a problem during normal ops, but some enterprising fighter jockey could maneuver his bird up between the tails and into the space behind the center wing section.  He'd then have an unobstructed field of fire, and be masked from most of the bomber's defensive armament.  Unless there are waist guns on the inner sections, and I don't recall side-firing waist guns as being employed by the Germans.
