by extension I imagine a centaurus Sea Fury should be straightforward.

Errrr, aren't they that way OOB?  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Not if they're Sabre or Merlin Furies!

On the other hand, that Griffon cowling from your Firefly when added to a Tempest, you get the prototype Tempest Mk.III.

I was given this side view by the Air-Britain Typhoon, Tempest Specialist quite a few years ago of it. The description he gave me was it 'looked' like the Sabre cowling but was thinner. Sometime later my Dad gave me a bunch of 'The Aeroplane' bookazines published in the middle 40's, one of the cutaways was one of these Fireflies and the caption said the cowling was a 'power-egg'. I immediately put two-&-two together and realized what the Specialist had described.

I've got one started but this photo shows it where I was trying to convert a Beaufighter Mk.II nacelle. I've since switched it to the Firefly cowling but no photo of it as of yet.

The Specialist told me the drawing he had seen of it showed that the wing was a full elliptical wing so that's what I've got done so far. Wingtips from a Spitfire fitted very well ----
