Near as I can tell, the word Chimera has not been used as the name of a ship in any RW navy.  I've found two fictional uses of the name, though.  The television series NCIS featured a Military Sealift Command vessel designated USNS Chimera.  In David Weber's Honorverse, HMS Chimera is a LAC carrier.

The Italian Navy has a Minerva Class Corvette named Chimera.  Pretty sure the RN hasn't had one, but it'd work well as Greek mythology is a staple for RN ship names.

If you ever need RN ship names Dan, Wiki has a listing.  Not sure if it's complete, but it's very comprehensive.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
