Working on the undercarriage bays at the moment so I can close up the inner wings then work on the cockpit and get the easy part of the build out of the way. More pictures to follow.

Also found out that there actually was an F2 built. It was powered by Halford H1B's which became the de Havilland Goblin and had the serial DG207/G where as DG204/G in the photographs in my earlier post were of one of the prototypes most of which had different engines. Think I will stick with calling this an F2 with all the modification used for the F3.

A fairly productive weekend

I have put together a few pictures to explain how I made the engine fan discs. The right hand part provided the fan disc once the excess plastic was removed.

Unfortunately the picture for the donor part for the centre of the fan disc was focused on the top of the part and not the inside bottom of the part..... dam auto focus digital cameras  :banghead: :banghead:

Bellow you can see the engine fronts with the centre of the reheat gutter from the Hasegawa F-15 kit. I removed the sides the cut away at the gutter to remove that then reduced the rear of the plastic untill all I was left with was the lump that had been proud of the gutter. This was then glued to a flattened centre of the front. I think it looks quite convincing. The green parts are cut down intakes from a cannibalised Matchbox Meteor. The main undercarriage is also going to be used.

The undercarriage bay sides are almost complete. Just a little tidying up to do to what you can see.

And finally for now. The roof of the undercarriage bays with the ribbing added. The black lines show the extent of the wheel wells with the red line showing where the front spar will go, once I work out what shape it is. So far I believe that it is a U section from front to rear about half depth of the bay and rectangular span wise but with in increase in depth to full depth at the edges of the bay but I need to check my references before I cut plastic.

Like this idea, looking forward to it!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Monday is a slow day, Badminton with collogues after work so let time at home to try and make the plastic bend to my will. Research and gathering of parts for the cockpit I think. Probably going to make a rod for my own back by rebuilding the nose wheel bay. Nose wheel leg could be a spare Airfix or Revell Hunter nose leg, I will have to check which looks better now that I have a roughly scaled print out of the side view as a guide.

Stuck the main wheel bays/Inner wings together and they are drying overnight. Also liberated the interior of an Academy Mk XIV Spitfire to help provide some detail to the cockpit, not sure if I should paint the inside Green or Black? Help with this please folks !!

The Wooksta!

Black - all Hawker Siddley group aircraft had their cockpits painted black from late 42 onwards.

And there's nothing in a Spitfire that you can use in a Meatbox.  I *might* have a spare resin tub somewhere.  I'll have to look.

Thanks for the colour info Lee, if you do have a spare tub that would be fantastic and save the cockpit from my poor scratch building skills.

Just realised over the last day or so that I am using this thread more of a Blogg than anything else.

Yippee....... more bits stuck together

The upper surface of the inner wings have been stuck on which includes the limited amount of detail work that I have carried out.

I have stuck the exhausts from the cannibalised Matchbox Meteor onto the exhausts of the Smer Me 262 kit engines which have been butchered a little.

Also found out today that I have the cut outs for the wing beams in the wrong place on the engines, they need to be much further forward and will be once I start to fatten up the engines to be more representative of the engines used.

It's nearly the weekend so I should get a fair amount done on this kit.

Lee please let me know as soon as possible if you did find a spare cockpit as I will have to start work on that area next week with or without resin, though preferably with.

A little more work over the last couple of days due to real life getting in the way. Here are a couple of pictures to show that progress.

Strips of plastic added around the engines to bulk out the sides.

Filler smeared over the outsides straight from the tube which is far easier for large areas.

Sunday I should be starting to sand this smooth once the filler has dried properly. Might manage to get work done on my other builds in the meantime.
