Something from the weekend.

From the Kaleidoscope wars. A Mig-19 in the colours of the Pan African  Oppressed Peoples Amalgamation or the combined air and ground forces of the great unwashed.(Local981).

Eight (ex Soviet) airframes been acquired from Rupert the Mad Mardi of Madagascar who had in his turn won them in a scrabble contest against  Norman , the cross-eyed caliph of Socotra..

Flown by Manx mercenaries, this airframe sports the emblem of the long tailed heron from Halifax,a reference to a former "in "joke and unit emblem....( no I don't get it either)

During their heyday these Migs were the only night fighter equipped airframes in service,although all of the 32 unsuccessful intercepts* were by ground control using ex Swiss  colonial army Danssete radars mounted in VW micro buses.


*This was a flock of flamingos which were unfortunately ingested by the interceptors. Luckily there were no pilot fatalities,the cooked flamingos being traded with KFC for two earthen jars and a Somali berthing blanket.

PS: Great little build this Tamiya 1:100 Mig. I can see a few more in this range finding their way onto my modelling  bench via the Huddersfield show this weekend.
