Hm, I recall a parsec is a unit of LENGTH, around 3 light years or so, so how come in the Star Wars universe it seems to have become a unit of time?

Because it's an expression of how far light travels in a given period of time ? Just a guess, but you could use it to express journey times ? I've not watched Star Wars for eons so have know idea of the context in which it's used
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

They try to explain it here, in these links, near the end ... The responses almost work.

I much prefer the original intended meaning Han Solo fast-talking to what he thought of as couple of hillbillies who wouldn't even know what a parsec was. Then it was ruined by that awful, awful explanation (though that was nowhere near the worst parts of the book that spawned it) that everyone hoped would have been retconned away into the Legends alternate universe along with the rest of the Expanded Universe. That The Force Awakens simply re-canonizes this clumsy explanation is a travesty.

---

Of course, having so many black holes close enough to each other that they would actually prevent travel (hint: if the Sun would collapse into a black hole, its gravitational pull would be exactly the same it is now because the mass stays the same - the dreaded event horizon would have to be somewhere really close to it!) but still be in stable enough orbits not to crash into each other is not exactly a likely scenario. They would have to be of the supermassive kind, otherwise their gravity would just match that of a normal star and they would never block any route whatsoever because they could simply not exist close enough to each other. Also, these supermassive black holes would have to form an extremely dense globular cluster since Space Is Not An Ocean (thanks, tvtropes!).

Yet another thing is that in the exact middle of this globular cluster of supermassive black holes there is supposed to be a (marginally) habitable planet orbiting a sun far less massive than the dead stars surrounding it. Since it's obviously surrounded by wtfhueg black holes it must have formed earlier (otherwise the higher-mass objects would have simply sucked all the heavy elements required for planet-forming), but how it managed to keep any planets with so many supermassive black holes nearby.... naah. Also, even if we consider that the supernovae burst before any life had developed (because they would have sterilized it otherwise) the "accrual disk" of a supermassive black hole (matter being sucked into the black hole and accelerated to relativistic speeds, being superheated in the process due to friction against the gas molecules being sucked in) gives off such a huge amount of radiation that having a habitable planet so close by is simply not possible.

You see, this is what happens when you try to apply rational thought to the Galaxy Far Far Away....

It's been out for YEARS, what planet are they on?

Even with the decimal point one place to the left it'd be expensive!

'Be first to review this item' is just an automatic feature of the Amazon shopping software, and is tied into the Amazon review
system only and only indicates that no Amazon registered 'reviewer' has commented. It has no relationship to the world
outside the Amazon software.
You'll see the same thing on listings for century old books.

25 notes for a brand new Airfix kit that can be bought off the shelf for a third of the price?  He can (rest of rant deleted on legal advice).

On the same page (when I look at it), below in the "People who viewed this item also viewed" section are 3 more ad's for the same kit*!

Prices: £9.29 & £12.23 (new), & £4.99 (used).

*: Although the other one titled "Series 2" has the kit number A02065A, his & the other two have the kit number A02065. Don't know if that means anything.

Probably A02065A is the second run with the current Airfix plastic and Cartograph decals or the rerelease with French unit markings.
