But it's the VERY rare version with the box art in black and white, worth a quarter century of anyone's money.............

Who DOES he think he's kidding?  :banghead:

I popped in the model shop in St George's Walk in Croydon yesterday and among the few aircraft kits he had were the old Hasegawa 1/72 He 51 floatplane at £19.99 ! Now this was the old boxing (when the boxes were small but at least the poor kit didn't get lost in it) and the kit is/has to be 40 years old ? It really is an old style kit especially in so far as the interior is concerned.

Now I know most of his aircraft kits are second hand, but £19.99 ? Oh and as per usual there was nothing in there to spark my interest.

If £19.99 is correct then I've 1 floatplane and 2 land plane versions in the stash  ;D

This boxing?

The box top design is a masterpiece IMO but still not worth close to $AU 40.

That's the boxing I have and I agree re the artwork  The one in the shop had the artwork with the aircraft in flight, don't know if that's earlier or latter ?

This one?

It's not as good a design IMO as they don't use the funky font.  It also has no japanese on it so maybe they had 2 box designs for domestic and overseas (although why change the picture)?

The lower one's the US market version I think, it's got the 'Distributed by Minicraft' logo on it. For some reason they seem to be stupidly rare in UK, and maybe Europe as well.

That's the one, but I don't remember seeing Minicraft on it, but then I wasn't looking that closely after seeing the price

Dude....those are 10 dollars at the store

That's not the same thing as a Hasegawa kit distributed in the US by the Minicraft of the period, which
was located in California, not the current iteration operating out of Illinois at most recent info.

Captain Canada

I'm not sure what you mean Jon ? There are 2 kits of this ?

I know!  I'm not often given to overreactions where prices are concerned , but that little collection of wishful thinking certainly made my jaw hang low!!

Wonder how much it weighs ? ParcelForce 48 Express (their most expensive in the UK) is £61.78 for 30Kg and £1.50 per additional Kg. Therefore assuming he's not profiteering on the postage his £199.00 for Express delivery would suggest it weighs 121.5 Kg (267 pounds imperial or a fraction over 19 stones) and that is heavier than me and I'm a fat.... (add your own description).

How can he justify that postage ?
