$25,000! No way!  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o

Maybe he meant to put the units as Japanese Yen or something. That said, I also noticed the material listed is matte black steel. I didn't realize Shapeways was printing in steel now. Heck, I didn't realize you COULD 3D print steel like that. I've seen lots of steel over the years and have seen laser tables that cut plates in various shapes, but never seen 3D printing like that.

After buzzing around on their site, apparently they print in a variety of metals and it ain't cheap.

That $25,000 price might just be legit.

Crazy.
It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth.

Looking at the size of it....no. If it was 1:2, maybe. NO!

And what do they charge for the ammunition ?

In all honesty I just have no comprehension for items like that (assuming the price is right) and don't really bother. I'm still trying to get my brain to compute the idea of 3D printing in steel and I spent most of my working life in the steel industry  :o

Well I think I know what that is (definitely know what sintering is and have seen it in action) and all I can say is that the "direct lasering" bit must obviously add a huge amount to the quality of the product.

Still can't figure the price though.

Need to remember I've been retired for 10 years now as well so things have moved on a tad  Think I'll try and find out if there's anyone in Sheffield Labs who remembers me and ask them

But just work out the logic of the pricing......or lack of it.

It'd cost less to get a local machine shop to machine it from the solid than £25000!

I designed up a special five piece bracket to fit a front derailleur to one of my bikes and the local shop made it for £85, and it was a darn sight bigger and more complicated than that gun turret!

I could probably get my local sheet metal shop to build up a new door and tail light assemblies out of stainless for less than that.

Try your local technical college. get friendly with the appropriate staff, and they'll often set your widget as a task for students, especially if it's a nice meaty, tricky piece to work.   You end up with a choice of widgets at next to no cost........at least, I did!

Hard hitters...

They also have the corresponding Sanka set on sale - for only USD 99.

There's an Airfix 1/72 Vickers Valiant that's just gone past £70  for an unbuilt kit on eBay.

The Wooksta!

Airfix Valiants seem to be going for stupid money on ebay.  Odd, considering you can get them less at shows - my second cost me less than 40 notes.

£13.50, I thought the idea of catalogues was to get you to spend your hard earned, not strip you of it before you even got to look at the contents.
