I saw this on ebay earlier tonight

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Very-Rare-Revell-Freddie-Lakers-Skytrain-Dc-10-Model-Kit-/221287778950?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:3160

Its a nice kit, but no where near that price. I think the most I have paid for a DC-10 is about £25 including P&P

I'm sure I've seen that Laker DC-10 kit on the CollectaKit stand at Telford for about £20, and it was in better condition!

PR19_Kit

That's crazy, I got my Skytrain DC10 at Telford two years ago and it cost me £7.50 or so! And you're only paying for the decal sheet really, the kit is the same as every other Revell DC10.

Not true Kit, I have two Revell DC-10's, the Laker one and an SAS one, one of them has the extra main undercarriage leg and the other doesn't.

Ok, MOST Revell DC-10s then.

The original one was a -10 but they later added the third leg to make it a -30 but failed to do the later engines.

After reading some of the posts here i can feel for some of you guys out there nearly falling over at the prices wallys think they can charge for models but here's the kicker guys ..here in NZ if you want the crap a brick over prices then all ya need to do is go to the local model shops and prepare to crap yourselves nine ways from sunday ...here its pretty easy to see a model priced for $110 NZ when you can buy it online for less than half that and thats in NZ dollars and with postage included ,,tell ya fellas building models here is not cheap so when a score presents itself you jump at it .
I'll give ya alittle idea of the nuts prices here ,
Tamiya 18ton Famo half track with the SH116 trailer .. from luckymodel ... $150.71 US with postage ,,$169.70 NZ
To buy it here will cost you $350.00 NZ ..talk about having your arse ripped off huh ?

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .

If they over-charge like that how do the LHSs stay in business over there?

Kit,

The same way that these overpriced items get sold on eBay - someone's found a "greater fool" who has more money than brains.  When I'm selling stuff on eBay I can only hope that my items attract such folk.  When I'm buying stuff on eBay I can only hope that such folk stay the hell away from my desired goods!

Wherever you go, there you are!

Certain times of the year are good for selling on Ebay, others for buying. We're heading into a good time for selling.

What is the happiest time for a seller is not finding ONE pseron who has more money than brains, but TWO!

Ideally, it used to work for me if one was from NYC, and the other Tokyo. It almost always seemed there was almost no upper limit then.

Happy days, ahhhhhhh.

This reminds me of a friend some years ago. He was bragging about how he had sold a collectible kit for about ten times it's value.  Later, he tried to replace it but the guy who had wanted an even bigger price. When he asked why it was so much the guy said " I heard about someone paying almost that much so I know I can get more.".  He had burned himself !!!  LMMFAO !!!   And yes he bought the kit for the asking price, too !!!  He always was an idiot !!!

Sometimes on E-Bay two people get into competition with each other and they are determined the other isn't going to win. I've seen some slightly silly prices realised this way. Not huge amounts but more then you would pay at a show or even a LHS for the kit. Some haven't got a LHS I know but it still makes you wonder ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Yup I know what you mean. I just put my max bid in and let the system deal with it now. Don't look until the auction is over

I try not to get into bidding wars, just put in my limit bid and check after the auction.
If I won, great, if not, so what, it'll turn up at some point.
