Prices for the Airfix 1/72 BAe Nimrod have also shot up from £20 to nearer £40 and someone is trying to flog one on eBay starting price £60.

Ah! But you get FREE postage on it !!

I certainly wouldn't pay £40 for it - far less £60!! It's a decent model but, considering the overall lack of detail (and very poor quality decals)  I felt it was over priced even when it was released. I guess we can also look forward to people trying to cash in on their Sea Vixen kits as well now that it is going out of production.

Runway ? ...

For £60 I can fix you up with a " rare, collectable " Formaplane vacform Nimrod ;)
I've an Airfix one that will probably never be built if you're interested.

Note to self: Post some stash in the Swap Shop.

Wonder if they know the kit is being reissued this year  :banghead:

Almost certainly, that's WHY they're trying to shift it now, hoping that no-one else knows about the re-release.

The same thing happened with the Airfix Valiant, a few months before the actual release eBay was awash with Mach 2 Valiant kits.

Having said that, £180 for an old Airfix Lancaster is just plain stupid, even for 'collectors', it's not THAT rare!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Which is yet another reason to go through the "Rumourmonger" forum over on Britmodeler and the "Model Kit News" forum here.  Doing that on a regular basis has proven quite... cost effective... for me as well.

I see that a 1/72 scale Aeroclub Shackleton AEW Mk2 conversion went for £155 today!!
