How about this one.

WHAAAAAAT?

The guy's nuts, I've got one right now and the price ticket on the box is something like £7.50. And IIRC it's larger than 1/72 anyway.

It's an odd 1/59th scale or something like that I think.

It always makes me wonder if something nefarious is going on with pricings like this on E-Bay.

The only person who would pay that is some-one who knows the value of what's in the box .... and it isn't a plastic kit!?
Oh to be whiffing again :-(

Well I asked the question of the seller - the reply was "Sorry 22.99 $ First model kit was gold"

So a pricing mistake ....but a Golden Model Kit ??  :o

Apparently massive overpricing is a way of selling illicit goods on E-Bay using pay pal.
The seller and the buyer both know it's actually a kilo of drugs in the box and no-one else will pay the stupidly inflated price.

However, go to E-Bay, set it to Models and then sort by Highest Price.  It's a real eye opener.

I do believe I sold it to you for £5 a few years ago. If It'd known it was worth so much more....

Doing a search of his shop his cheapest modelling item is "Humbrol 14ml No. 1 Tinlet Enamel Paint 127 US Ghost Grey Satin" at £3.29 - it is free P&P though!  ;D

His most modelling expensive item is the "Trumpeter 05758 HMS Zulu Tribal Destroyer 1:700 Plastic Kit"

for £713.39....it's on Hannants (out of stock mind) at £14.99  :o

Yeah, but look at the scale.  It's 700 which is, like bigger.  So it stands to reason it costs more.
Duh.

£260 is a bit excessive for a 1/144 injection moulded kit, considering the Orion shuttle is only £24.99. They can't even say its a full interior as that's extra from a third party and done in resin.

If Roden can get away with charging £120 for a 1/144 Galaxy, the sky is apparently the limit.  :banghead:

The only losers are we, the modellers, if we chose to pander to such greed of course.

Basic law of supply and demand, if people are prepared to pay the price then it will be sold at that price. If they aren't then the price will drop.

Plus in the UK we have to remember the fall the £ has seen in the last 18 months or so.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Old Wombat

If it was AU$ it would be reasonable, given that it's over 3 feet long & 500 pieces (you pay that for a similar sized aircraft carrier) but £'s is a bit rich.

Think I'll wait for the 6" long 1/864th scale kit that's bound to follow, and will display so nicely with every other random-scale space kit, of course..... :banghead:

But not THAT much! A similar sized Revell An-124 costs less than a 1/3 of that amount.

It would be impossible to whiff as well.
Imagine the scene.  Our erstwhile Mr Spackman is all set to cut into it to attach the longer wings when...
