These folks have just released a 1/48 Sukhoi T-50.

See here for details + here for photos of the completed model.

Their own website (http://www.hph.cz/) doesn't yet mention it though.

1/72 Tu-154 and Il-62 as well.  Bit pricey though.   Be interesting, I think.

Novel idea, but pricey: a ship's catapult for the 1/48th Ar.196:

I'll believe that when I see it..............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Steel Penguin

:o  I don't know whether to start saving and sell a kidney now    or just whimper in a corner.
that's bonkers, amazing but bonkers  and at approx 1.5 M long  I don't know where id put it.

what am I saying that's not that more insane than my 1:48 B1
saving it is
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.

Captain Canada

I always think that when something gets that big ( and expensive ) you might as well go the extra mile and build an RC.

the problem with RC is that I know my luck, and hand eye co-ordination and the size of the resultant bills ;(
storage space ( raw and built) would be the problem

My prediction: they'll sell about four, which will sit in people's stashes for years and perhaps get passed on to others, but will never get built.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

..... and will appear on eBay in 15 yrs time marked 'Ultra Rare!' and will have a 'Buy it Now' price in the £thousands!

zenrat

If someone buys me one I promise i'll build it. ;D

I bet it hasn't got a detailed interior.  In 1/48 they could really go to town - decals for the seat fabric to get the pattern right, photoetch seatbelts, food/drink trolley, champagne bottles moulded in green tinted clear, couple in coitus for the dunny, illuminated mach meter...
Anyone else my age will remember when they started flying the Atlantic and Blue Peter went on one of the first runs.  So a scale Valerie Singleton would also be a must.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I can remember when it first flew.  ;D

With Raymond Baxter doing the commentary, a great bloke.
