REally well executed scheme. Looks exactly like the original subject  :o

Here is the slender beast, looking like a stretched-out version of the initial drawing ('twas too fat to begin with, methinks). The tailplanes of the Newt are only about 2 scale feet farther back from the wing leading edge than the He-162. The RLM actually proposed extending the fuselage of the He-162 to move the tails back to gain stability. The white parts of the Croatian cross has been muted with light gray:

Here is the tail with Hitler's honorific and the modified Ustashi emblem:

Here is the "Papagei" undersides, showing the pack-gun 20mms:

Here is the front view (notice the "compressor blades" that turn with the propellers!) The props can move independently, but they don't freely spin like I had hoped   The big, honking main armament looks to put 37mm holes in the enemy that explode!

Top view with the Newt camo and the barely-white-outline Croatian cross:

More/different photos will go on the "Completed" thread here, along with the complete backstory.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

"Newt" Gingrovic?  I love it!!!  Your sense of humor is always inspiring, as well as your modeling prowess.

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

That's just a great scheme. It's almost a 1946 version of digital camo! I like the compressor blades, too.

Bodensee, a large Bavarian fresh-water lake.

It is NOT IN BAVARIA!          ;D

The Majority of it's coast either touches Switzerland or Baden-Würtemberg.

Ah, yes! But close! I will amend my backstory to read, "...a large lake near their Bavarian base at Lindenberg" instead. (note: Lindenberg is a real Bavarian town, and of course approximates the model manufacturer from which the "Newt" originated.)

>The Majority of it's coast either touches Switzerland or Baden-Würtemberg.<

And Austria, actually!   I have been to the Bodensee---GORGEOUS!

su27rules, AXU, dumiac, jschmus, taiid, DocYo, Frank, GTX, ChAkula--thanks. For what I thought was a "quickie", it turned out to be complex (AGAIN--why do I never learn??) but extremely satisfying. I am reminded of that old adage, "a turtle only makes progress when it sticks its neck out." I was bold, and I got lucky, too!

My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

The build is neat but it is, absolutely, the camo that makes this build awesome!

Very good; very original and hard camo. It seems like from seabed.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
