Well, more took it up for reconsideration in light of the delays in the JSF program. However, since the entire fighter acquisition has been put on hold anything can happen.

#5
build #1: Eurofighter Typhoon, Flemish Air Command, "Operation: Storm Tide", 2008

August 24, 2008, The Madistan Armed Forces invade the oil state of Khemed. UN and NATO forces are ordered to respond.
the Flemish Air Command was one of the first on the scene, with a detachment of 4 Eurofighter Typhoon fighterjets for 25 squadron "the black widows" based at Ostend Air Base.
the Typhoons have the order to attack any enemy instalations and vehicles in Khemed, support the allied ground forces and shoot down any Madistan Air Force fighters crossing the Khemed border.

as the operation started on August 26, at 7.25AM, 4 FAC Typhoons took of from AL Kharj, Saudi Arabia, to take out any Madistani anti-aircraft systems placed at Wadesdah International Airport, pending the arrival of allied C-130's carrying troops to retake the Airport. the mission was a succes, during the mission, the FAC typhoons destroyed 6 S-300 SAM sites, 10 AAA units and shot down 2 Madistani MIG-29's.

the Flemish Air Command bought 9 Typhoons in Tranche 2 configuration, the first being delivered on march 10 2007.

seen below is a FAC typhoon, armed for another CAS mission over Madistan (with myself as the pilot, my name under the canopy  ;D).

(...next time, Morrocan AF Jaguar-A, Khemed SU-25 and Swedish Tornado IDS)

Panavia Tornado ECR, Swedish Air Force, F17, Ronneby.

In 1986, the soviet union invaded Finland. the Swedish gouverment realised that it couldnot stop the communist uprising alone, and decided in 1987 to join NATO. as part of a cooperative defence deal, Sweden placed an order for 100 Panavia Tornado strike aircraft, to replace the SAAB Viggen in the reccon/strike role (so more viggens wer available for air defence) and also ordered 30 Tornado ECR to replace the SAAB Lansen in the Electronic Warfare and SEAD role.

a total of 24 German-build IDS's and 12 ECR's were delivered as of 1989, the remaining 100 being build under license by SAAB. after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the beginning of the 90's, the Tornado's never saw action, that was until the crisis in Bosnia in 1996, Sweden sent 16 Tornado's to support ground troops, enforce the no-fly zone and provide SEAD capability.

in 2006, all Tornado IDS/ECR aircraft were upgraded by SAAB-Eriksson to MLU standard, this included new radar, new color MFD in the cockpit (same as the Gripen), new advanced Laser/GPS guided weapons,....
today, Sweden still has 89 Tornado's flying, divided under 5 squadrons.

model: Revell Tornado ECR
decals: Airfix Viggen

(personally, i think the decals would look even better on a Tornado ADV or F-15C)

Next time: German Heersflieger UH-60G Blackhawk

UH-60G Blackhawk, German Heersflieger, KFOR Kosovo 1999.

following delays in the NH90 program, and delivery slipped by 4 years, the German Army Aviation (Heersflieger) faced a capability gap in its Medium lift helicopter/CSAR capability. as a stop-gap, the Heersflieger ordered a lease of 35 Blackhawk helicopters in 1996, under the designation UH-60G (with G standing for Germany), the first being delivered in 1998.

the UH-60G's were modified to a standard similar to the MH-60 helicopters of the USAF, including some features destined for the NH90, duch as the nose radar and FLIR turret on the nose. also, the helicopters were fitted with an in-flight refueling probe, to extend its range on long range CSAR missions.
the Heersflieger blackhawks first saw combat in 1999, as part of "Operation: Allied Force" over Kosovo. the HEER sent 8 UH-60's as part of the NATO's Rapid Responce Force and later came to be placed under KFOR command.
the UH-60's also saw action in Afghanistan under ISAF command in 2008. the helicopters are planned to stay in service until 2015, when the NH90 would be declared Fully operational.

Model: Dragon MH-60S Knighthawk, modified with extra parts from the kit
Decals: Revell 1/144 NH90 and KFOR marking from revell 1/72 Dingo I

(time to build it: 3 hours)

in a short while: CL604, Flemish Air Command (already build a while ago)

in 2009, the Flemish Air Command aquired 2 secondhand CL604 executive aircraft on the civilian market.

the aircraft are used as gouverment & presidential short range transport, liaison, training and medevac duties, the CL604 is also a trainer to transition pilots to the larger C-27J, Airbus A319 or the E-2C Hawkeye.
