I wonder if they've got the off-axis engine mount right in these kits?

What's all that about then?

Very male airplane....engine/cowling IIRC bends to the left ;D.

(Note the RAF option)

Surely not in that camo scheme -- ?

Maybe.

Curtis sold some P-36s to the Armee  de L'air early in WWII and France was overrun before they got there. The ship docked at Liverpool instead and the P-36s were impressed into RAF service, operating from Burtonwood. They flew in various hybrid colour schemes, some with just RAF roundels overpainting the French ones. I've built one with RAF camo on top and French silver and French roundels underneath!

Yup I'm planning on having a look at them at Telford.

I notice they have a Couple of Yak 11's out as well

They were tempting me during the week.  But i've decided to build my RS Dewoitine 520 first to see how it goes together before splashing out for a Blotch.

I've built a few RS kits, both resin and IM. The recent IM ones go together well. require more cleaning up then a mainstream kit but fit and ease of build are fine. The Airabonita was a nice build

Thanks Chris.  I also have one of their Kawanishi biplanes which looks well made.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

The He 280 is a good deal. You get the both the HeS Jumo 004 and the 6 Pulse jets and the T-tail and the V-tail. Lots of options and left overs.

Here are just some of the build options:

I have two in the stash just because.

Lots of stuff

RS seem to be taking some of their inspiration from the late lamented Huma range, and making a better job of them at the same time.

The He-280 and the Flettner Fl-282 are just two examples, so I can't wait to see what they make of the Triebflugel!  ;D

Sorry Kit: only just noticed this!

Most single prop aircraft have an asymetric tail fin to deal with the forces exerted on it by the spiral wake from the prop. Either it has an asymetric airfoil section and/or it's slightly offset to one side. The Bloch fighters adopted a different solution: the engine was offset from the fuselage axis by a few degrees to the left instead. You can see it clearly in accurate drawings but it doesn't leap out at you unless your attention's drawn to it.

The other solution, of course, is to get all Blohm and Voss on it's donkey-ymetric* forces.... ;)

This image shows it really well with the split plan view:

*That was supposed to be "asymetric" but with a double S for the Pulp Fiction reference before the Sweary Mary got hold of it. I was going to edit it, but honestly, I kinda like "donkey-metric"...... ;D

Ah right, thanks. I know all about the offset fin business but I'd never heard of the Bloch solution before. But then they are French..........  ;D
