(Apologies if I am teaching granny to suck eggs!)  I had similar troubles when I couldn't transfer pics from our PC to Ebay - So I took to using Photobucket instead.

Not at all mate. It's always been the best way for me to learn

Does the IMG code start with [IMG] and end with [\IMG] (but with the slash the other way)?

If so, it should work.....

Is the folder a public one or a private one?

The way photobucket works for me changed all on it's own some time ago: I used to get a selection of codes under each picture, but now I get the mouse-over routine....

Harold the account is private. Dawned on me yesterday that might be the reason ? I'm going to set up a "public" album at the weekend to see if that works.

Many thanks indeed for all your help lads - Theil your screen shots are a great way to teach people

I will keep having a go at this, until I crack it  ;D

I'm a happy bunny - thanks to all who helped me out  ;D

Just made my first post from Photobucket  ;D The previous problem was the folder was not public. Changed that and BINGO  ;D

Thanks to all.

Chris

PS I've kept a list of your instructions

Glenn,

If you still have trouble, let me know and I can probably talk you through it.

A tip for folk moving to Photobucket:

I set the upload size in "customise your options" to 640 x 480 pixels, which makes it just narrower than the standard width of a forum page when you hotlink it here (as I see it on my screen). If you make it any bigger, then people looking at your thread have to scroll your whole post left and right to see the whole pic, which isn't too bad if you've only posted one, but is a right pain if you've posted loads of pics in one post, because you only get one internal scroll bar per post.

Another option would be to get your own web site and use it as web storage (like I do).  You can get great starter packages for cheap out there, or if you know a friend with a site, sponge of them  ;D

OK, now say I do eventually work out how to work out the IMG code and Direct link, Copy and all that crap......then how do I send it to you guys?
Glenn

PS....Not saying that I have yet!

Glenn - you don't have to "send" it, just copy it and put it in your post.

For instance, I just went into my photobucket album, moused over a picture and the IMG code box appeared underneath it. I then clicked on the code itself, and the box turned yellow and said "copied" in it. Now if I put the cursor on this page as I'm typing it, I get this:

{IMG]http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d165/hws5mp/copperchopper1.jpg[/IMG}

But with square brackets [] at the ends instead of curly ones {}: I changed the brackets so you could see the code. If I do it again, but leave the brackets alone, you get the picture instead:
