Search your hard drives for "shot_001.jpg".  That'd be the first screenshot taken for the game.  ;)

T-50s give me a lot of trouble when I get teamed with a collection of players without any concept of keeping an eye on our flanks.

I hope the 107mm gun for the KV would be given a new turret upgrade after the KV-1/KV-2 split.  I have nothing against derp guns...... except for the ones on the KV.

Speaking of TDs and the KV tank, I (from my experience with M3 Medium) find that if you have your gunner locking on your target long enough for the dispersion to decrease to the minimum, long range accuracy tend to be pretty good without entering the precision mode.  Of course that wouldn't work if your line of fire is obstructed from the target's visible centre of mass by cover.

Yup, that's the way I shoot with KV as well.  I found myself unable to out-brawl a KV-2 by virtue of my opponent's 152mm gun.  Even a slight exposure can get you killed with a 152mm derp gun.  I'd still skip the KV-2 for two reasons though- 1. the butt-ugly turret makes me vulnerable to long range direct fire and 2. it takes away valuable EXP. points for something that's only going to be on the KV...... and I'm trying to get out of the KV (nevermind the 107mm cannon- I'll look for something more agile; in the meantime I'll keep the research path open)......

I only discovered this today, but the New York Times did a neat story about World of Tanks back in September.

I was especially interested in the bit at the end about the makers planning World of Warplanes and World of Battleships.

If I can suggest something: don't go into T-50-2. It is wast of money, unless you have premium account of course!
It is slightly better and faster, but it is much more expensive to repair and rearm.
Besides seems that T-50 has better matchmaking results and can more often meet similar opposition.

to marek= i did not evan mean to go to the t-50,on my screen at the tech tree i thought it would led me to the tank i wanted quicker. i could not see that the line ended with the -2.oh well,it is fun to spin around in and can make some cash/exp quick just by runnin in and detecting/spotting guys with.

Here is the KV-3

With a 107mm gun and the obligatory improved suspension.  The good news is that it does fire faster than the KV's CS howitzer.

Unless you want the IS-4, going for the KV-1S is recommended because the Russian heavy tank line will eventually be split into two, with KV-3 leading through the evolution of the KV's basic design and ending at IS-4 (the only IS tank family on this path) whereas the KV-1S would lead straight to the IS-1/2.

My KV is going bye-bye as soon as I gain access to KV-1S after the split.

Try to buy camouflage net. It helps a bit when camping in bushes.
This tank is definitely a second line tank, and with that size it is not easy to hide anywhere.

When I had it I preferred 107 gun. It is not as strong, but reloads much faster and is preety accurate too.

T14 with 90mm gun!?

T-28 with new turret and longer-barrel 85mm!?

M6 with a larger turret and 105 mm Gun T5E1

=====================================================================

Before people start wondering if there is a secret upgrade module for those three tanks...... I wish.

Recall my tank purchases aren't only about functionality but also what fantasy strikes me on the subject, so one day I decide to try out a turret visual model swap tutorial......

Awesome (badass guns, no less), but there's a bug in this.  The decal mapping would be a bit weird in some cases (for example, the White Star on that kitbash M6) because although the texture comes with the turret, the decals seem to still be mapped according to the base tank.

Kitbash T14 simply got a 90mm from T20 (somehow the T20 turret managed to look even smaller than the T14 stock turret). The turret for the kitbash T-28 comes from the visual model of KV-13.  More specifically, KV-13M and 85mm gun D-5T-85BM.  The kitbash M6 has the turret and gun of the T32.

Thank you, Taihaku from the European WoT forum, for the tip on how to go about doing it; of course, without the WoT dev team, it wouldn't have been possible.

Apparently yes...

... although when the vehicle is destroyed, the model reverts to the original.  There's gotta be a file for the model in destroyed state, but I haven't figured out which one it is.  And of course the actual gun performance, and turret protection as well as hit boxes remain unaltered by the model swap.

As I have said before, I've wanted to eventually collect a VK4602(P).

Therefore I spent the past two days grinding past the Pz.IV (because I had to) to this, the forerunner to the Porsche Tiger (which is in term the forerunner to the Porsche King Tiger...... but one step at a time), and keeping going until I can replace the main gun with a 88mm/L56.

Indeed a tank meant for long-range engagement.  Both the tracks and the turret are abysmally slow-traversing, meaning that an enemy that manage to close the distance can easily outpace the speed in which the VK3001(P) can bring its firepower to bear.  Bad news in that case.

The stock tank is somewhat close in appearance to Tiger(P) already...... although its rather-forward turret position makes me wonder if the look of Tiger's alternative turret (the one designed for a 75mm/L70 gun) would go better.  So I swapped in the visual model of a VK3601(H) turret upgrade.  As mentioned before, the actual turret performance and hit boxes are in no way altered, but yes I think this one looks better.

I might try a visual trick like that again when I do acquire a Tiger(P)......
