Oooh goody, I get in first with the obligatory rules-lawyer question!  ;D

Re rule 4:

4.   Group build to cover all types of powered vertical take off and landing types, thus tail sitters, jet lift types, helicopters etc are in, whilst ZELL systems, rockets and balloons are out. Likewise all historical eras are eligible, so if you fancy doing a militarised Da Vinci helicopter, go for it!

What about an aircraft that combined ZELL with vectored thrust VTOL? What I have in mind specifically is something in a Gerry Anderson style which is, essentially, a Harrier with a rocket in it's tail. It takes off from an elevated ramp using both rocket thrust and jet thrust to overcome traditional VTO weight restrictions, then lands vertically like a Harrier once most of it's fuel and weapons have gone and it's therefore light enough to do so.

Not bothered if you don't approve it: gots lots of other things I could do instead (if I actually get time to join in at all...)

Sounds like Thunderbird 2  ;D

However that does fulfil the VTOL requirement, its the ZELL launch and conventioanl landing that falls foul of the rules as far as i can tell, but of course its upto Duncan.

Managed to see rule 4,  but overlooked rule 2...   ;) ;D

Ah - saw it, but only registered the "time extensions" bit for some reason.... My apologies.

Cheers for the response.

i have a question, are autogyros allowed, or is that concidered more STOL then VTOL
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Weaver

So the natural follow-on question to that is:

If an autogyro has a rotor which can be powered for take-off and landing but isn't in forward flight (like the Rotordyne), does it still count as an autogyro or is it a helicopter for the purposes of this GB?
