Dang, that has turned out to be one mean lookin' tank! I initially though the engine would go in the right front hull, like the Merkava, AMX 15, et.al. but there's nothing wrong with the set up it has. This design strikes an excellent cross between sleek and brutal. Nice work!

Actually ,the large German /Czech population of Texas is a major inspiration for my builds and backstories. In WWI the Republic were German allies. With the rise of the Nazis Texas broke off relations but there are many extended families between the 3 countries and RoT intelligence makes extensive use of this fact.
As a matter of fact, during the interregnum, Texas and their Brazilian and South African allies were major importers of the Czech 38 tank So when a light tank hunter killer was needed there was already a suitable chassis available .


I just started that a little while ago. It will be a Hetzer with the recoiless rifles from an Ontos. The chassis cannon will be magazine fed autoloaded and the RR's will also have 4 round mags .
At the last show I specifically got an Ontos and a seperate anti tank gun kit so I would have the Recoiless Rifle ammo to cast and put in skeleton mags on the guns

Actually JD the engine is in the front It slants from left front to right rear. The exhaust, intake and radiator are located in the rear so as not to have any openings toward the front.
This is somewhat complex but it accomplishes several advantageous goals. The intake is in a dead air space onder the turret rear, the exhaust can be vented, via armored cut outs, under the fenders to defrost the tracks in frozen conditions. Also the radiator liquid is plumbed to circulate around the hull ammo storage .

And hey, assuming this Texan (or is it Texian) machine survives into the postwar era as the Sherman did, once infrared sensors become more common in combat, the venting to the rear could possibly present a smaller, or more diffused image.

Erm, just a question - how does the crew get to the Engine/Gearbox?

Boy, I knew that was gonna come up It is inconvinient The trans housing is a seperate piece . There will be a seam on the nose. The engine is problematic. For general maintenance there are access panels inside the fighting compartment. To replace the engine you have to pull the turret. 
You can pull an engine with out a crane by breaking down the rear panels,and the starboard interior and dragging the engine out the rear of the hull on dollies but it is a huge pita

Cheers for that - sounds like almost the same PITA when replacing a 432 engine!

OK, not as over-long as I thought but certainly much wider - neat Shermanic build, Ron, & the Hetzertos looks like another interesting vehicle, too.

Hey OW I think you would be right at home here It is my understanding that Texas is much like Australia. We have lots of pretty women, I always have to shake my boots out , the snakes will come in the house if you leave the door open, we have a wide variety of climates and weather conditions,and we have vast tracts of land where no one in their right mind would live( but people still do). Also we like beer and claim our home is the best damn place to live in the world
