Thanks all y'all  Frank the trans housing tracks are extra armor added in the field from salvaged material. Actual repair parts are stored in the bustle box .Weave it already has the bail out the back hatch.
.
The interior is too small to carry additional troops like a Merkava but the crew has the option of exiting that way and it makes it easier to load out with supplies  You know beer and such, oh and ammo ;D

Hey Toolslinger, check this link out for a video and some stills of various improvised Mexican Drug cartel armoured vehicles!  Some good whifery ideas there for future "Texican" vehicles.

Hmm - I thought the exhaust, radiator and intake were at the back? There must be a pretty tight crawlway through the middle of them.....

The Merk rarely carries infantry. There's barely room for four lightly-dressed tankies (i.e. the recued crew of another Merk) in there as standard: making room for heavily equipped infantry means dumping the ammo racks, which IIRC, reduces capacity to about a dozen rounds in the turret. The occasionally do this for engineer teams and the like, but these days they have so many other heavy APCs that they ususally don't need to.

Yeah it is tight but to the left of the radiator there is room as the intake and exhaust take sharp turns as they enter the hull so as not to create weak spots. All the plumbing runs over the tracks along the hull sides.

Great looking so far - I would've put the Fuel Filler Caps more towards the rear - if you're Hull Down, it's impossible to top up without compromising your position...

sotoolslinger

Those are just vents. The filler cap is in the rear to the left of the exhaust stack
