When the F4D-1 went into service, the US Navy realised that a two-seat trainer was required for conversion training, a small number of these airframes were built as two seat trainers. In all seventeen were built as two seaters and as they did not come into service until after the Tri-Service redesignation scheme came into being, they were known as TF-6Bs A small number of them were later converted to be drone controllers as DF-6B aircraft and this model represents one of those.

The model starts as a Fujimi 1/72 Skyray, and is then joined by a Hasegawa TA4-J that I managaed to get at the Scottish Nationals back in Perth.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Looking forward to this one

I was going to build one at one point, as a Vietnam FAC machine (like the TF-9Js in real life), but it took me years to lay hands on a two-seater Skyhawk, and by the time I got one (two actually, I couldn't remember what I got them for.  Once I get back into a place of my own, I will have to make the time.  I am glad to see someone tackling this.

I live by myself, well with 2 cats, and my mum hardly ever visits and doesn't go into my den. The picture was of only one end of the room, the other end with the computers is almost as bad. I need to complete more models to help clear up some of the mess.

Nooooo! You need more kits to cover up the mess. :)
What if... I had a brain?

I won't ask what the toilet rolls for Jim

I thought my modelling desk was a mess - I shall now post a picture of Alistair's above it to prove to the "non-modeller" visitors it isn't  ;D

Is that single or double ply toilet paper? I'm always looking for new tips and techniques from the learned ones.

Oh and the DF-6B is a great WHIF.

If I was cutting up two new kits at their price these days Id need a toilet roll as well.

Cant wait to see the completed build. As interesting as it is "gutsy".

The toilet roll is double ply, slightly quilted and is useful for clearing up paint, glue, and all the usual crap that you get on a modelling table
