But one Airfix kit that's a mystery to me is their Banshee.  Haven't even seen a 2nd hand one around for many, many years.
;D ;D

Isn't the Hobbycraft Banshee just a scribed copy of the Airfix kit, like Academy's U-2 is a scribed copy of Airfix's??
(I've got a surplus HC Banshee......)

To me it's the 1/24 Tachikoma that Wave put out some years ago....

THAT was a pretty sweet kit! I regret not getting one when they were available and relatively cheap.
Some clever and amusing quote goes here.

Although I'd like to see the MB Flower-class corvette come back into production.  1/72 scale warships are pretty rare, and would make one helluva diorama with the Revell U-boat kit.

Didn't Revell re=pop it a year or so back ?

Still quite easy to get in the UK

Stockton Modeller has one on display...

Eh?!

Whilst not exactly overfull, I would hardly describe the box as being over abundant with empty space either....

I would suggest that the crown for worst box/kit ratio actually belongs to the Airfix 1/48 Spitfire Mk.22/24 kit.

IMHO, the Airfix Banshee is one of "Old" Airfix's better efforts, and builds up to be a rather nice model from the box, I've built three of them, one was my very first attempt at kit surgery back when I was a lad, I cut off the nose to build one as a F2H-2P photo recon bird.

Duncan

That's a totally different boxing to the one I have, Airfix must have re-issued it at some stage.

Mine has that same sprue set in a box about twice that width and depth, thus my original comment. If I could find the darn thing I'd photo it  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The Airfix kit is of the earlier F2H-2 while the Hobbycraft kit is the later, and very different, F2H-3/4.
Yes I have both in my stash

Thanks - didn't know that. Good to be enlightened!

Can't remember the name of the book but I remember reading a modelling book it was red with a picture of an aircraft on the front and lots of pictures inside . in the back their was a list of various kits and amongst them was several 1/72 airfield buildings including a 1/72 hangar which  I have always wanted although whether i have the space is another matter. I had to make do with sa heavily modified Dapol bus Garage , which seems to be out of production too.

The major, and I do mean MAJOR, item on my HG list would be the 1/72 SARO Princess that's been mentioned on here many times before. It may cost an arm and a leg, but I have two of each and a fine collection of walking sticks.....  ;)

I'd love to have  a couple of 1/72 Princesses too, but I know  that I  couldn't afford them, even at the cost of an appendage or two!  A  1/72 Brabazon  would be rather nice as well   Trouble is, even if I did afford them, could I spare  the display space?      They'd be about a yard (0.97 metre 2 cubits)  wingspan each.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous...................

They have the same wingspan as a B-36   ;)  and I've got four of those --

Either your management  lets you have more shelf space than mine, or you use better sky-hooks!

Embraer Tucano in Styrene in 1/72.
I know there is at least one resin rendition of it out there by someone, but if Airfix can give us the less used Shorts version in Styrene that sells well enough to reissue, I hardly see what's holding up a styrene rendition of the much more widely used Embraer version.

If it's of any use to you I have one of the Masterkit Embraer T-27 Tucano kits knocking about http://www.fortunecity.com/meltingpot/portland/971/Inbox/t-v/tucano_mc-i.htm I got it for the Brazilian decals but as with everything tastes change. Not sure of the value so maybe a swap can be arranged ?

I know Airfix used to make a bunch of airfield stuff, but really haven't seen much of it recently either. (Granted, where I live now, there are no nearby hobby shops)

The one I have built was up here with all my others, but that was before our house move, it's still in tha packing box at the moment, but I have this huge space for displays once I get the cabinet built.

When we were looking for a new home, my main stipulation was 'I was having a hobby room and I was having space for displaying my models'.  So far there hasn't been an argument about it ----

just yesterday I heard about iCloud for storing photos -- didn't know you could have an iCloud for plastic models !
