Well yeah, the US Navy was cheap like that at times.  Budgets being tight and all - what with the construction of all those new super carriers and such.  So, yeah, sometimes the vendors they used for their aircraft marking decals were pretty cheap..

AFAIK it is rare that such things pop up - as a whif AND in decent quality. Also very different how well and for how much they sell - normally, it is a pity what sellers get for their effort. Unless you have/put swatikas on the kit, then you can be certain that some target groups (esp. in the USA) get hooked.

This seller had/has some other nice whifs online, too, like an XP-56 in a similar livery.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
