I got my BSP book out to see what the differences are between the two 730 versions, I'll have to read it again because I couldn't find a length but did find that the later version was to have a 24" wider fuselage.  So that and the shorter length Simon has said would change the fuselage shape quite a bit and I can see why Duncan has dibbed on doing the first version.

Incidently, the later version would have had the same diameter fusealge as the Vulcan -- at least at it's widest point

Robert, dimensions for early & late Avro 730:

Span:              Early 59'9"/18.2m      Late 65'7"/20.0m
Length:            Early 163'6"/49.8m    Late 159'0"/48.5m
Max Diameter:   Early 7'6"/2.29m       Late 9'4"/2.85m
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks for that Simon, I'm going to see if I can draw up the late 730 fuselage shape.  For the wings I'll have a look at the Bristol 188 I have (BSP says they were very similar) and see if they're just a straight 'scale-up'

Me, I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest.
Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

Now this is getting interesting Duncan, well done for persevering with the fuselage, it's looking good

congratulations for a great work, a great effort, I will continue this thread

Looks like you were building a boat there at one stage Duncan!  ;D

Pretty darned impressive, and that all that Milliput must have generated a few tons of sanding particles!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Well done Duncan. It's a pity that the planking idea didn't work out. Maybe thicker planks (or lengths of sprue if need be) would work better?

Mossie

Well done mate, it's looking good & kudos for sticking to your guns!  I'd probably have ditched it when my first attempt failed. :-\

For future, I remember a few here mentioning Aves Apoxies Sculpt for gratuitous PSR working much better than Milliput.

You deserve a medal mate or at least a cup of tea at Telford
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I'll hold you to that offer of a cuppa Chris, provided I get it finished for Telford!  ;D

Hmm drinking the tea at the T I C is more like a punishment than a reward lol

I wonder if too much grey component makes it go really hard?

Too much information Duncan :banghead:
