Whilst I know there are differences, one would probably find it a lot cheaper to simply go with a Ju188.  Now a Ju85 on the other hand, that would have been good:

The Wooksta!

There wasn't any real difference between the Ju 85 and Ju 88.  Same basic airframe but the former had the twin fins.  It's easier to start with a Ju 188 anyway, as Greg said.  Certainly cheaper and as I can testify from experience, the Italeri kit will withstand some serious conversion work.  All it needs for the Ju 88B is a reshaped wingtip to the profile for the Ju 88A-1 and a new rear canopy section sans power turret.  The Ju 88E is similar, but has a turret and 88A-4 wings.

That wind tunnel model is more like a Tupolev Tu 2 although both types had the same basic mission.

Going at half price at Hannants: LF's 1:72 Ambrosini SAI.207 light fighter:

All sorts of whiffs to be had from that I think - what if light fighters had caught on? You could have this tangling with the Heller Caudron C.714 and MPM's Curtis CW-21....

NARSES2

It's a nice little kit, there's one in the stash, but RS are bringing out an IM one shortly which will be about the same price I would have thought
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
