Forgot to say thanks for the links :) very useful :) and the queens flight livery is very similar to what i was planning... :) of course, the aircraft will have to remain a main white colour (due to the heating problem), but it should be ok if only a cheatline is used, as apposed to a whole body colour :)

-- Progress Report --

The painting has commenced! Has been sprayed with gloss white several times, and the gear wells have been painted a mint green ( on Concorde, this is normally orange, but i thought i'd change this). I have experimented with using art acrylics for weathering, and the results have been good. first, you have to use a cotton bud to rub the paint into the recessed lines, then use a damp peice of kitchen roll to wipe most of it off. some gets stuck in the recessed lines, and really highlights the detail of the revell kit :) I have left the right side undone to show the before and after :)

Here's a mock up of the planned livery :

That's different for sure, lightning stripe decals from a VC-10 sheet perhaps?

like the mockup drawing, how about just the 'United Kingdom' title tho with a red tail and Union flag instead of the standard tail marking?, the air command part looks somewhat odd, or how about 'R.A.F. Air Support Command' if going with the overall white scheme? might work?

cheers, Joe

Thanks for the tip - I'm still not settled on a name, might have a good think whilst i'm on holiday. I like the idea of a red tail, however, I don't want it to look too much like a airliner livery. I have added the engines and landing gear, and i'm gonna try and make the weathering a bit more subtle (its in acrylic so it will easily rub off) . I'm on holiday for 2 weeks, so won't have a chance to do anywork, but i will do some concept liveries on photoshop :) cheers :)

Sorry about the lateness of the build - I just haven't had the chance, what with GCSEs and other exams. The project is nearing the end, and all that's left to do is the decals. Here are some picture updates:

Agreed, this is one I'd like to see finished.........AFTER THE EXAMS!!   Best of luck with GCSE, some of us here can just about remember GCE O and A  levels way back in the last millenium.

To right I can even remember RSA's, although I never sat them, and something from the Nuffield Trust that our biology master was helping develop so he tested it on us  :banghead: I think it was the first multiple choice/auto scan the answers exam. Nothing came of it though.

All the best with the exams. I can remember doing my GCSEs - still got the Letts revisions guides stored somewhere! Wow... 11 years ago.

Only too well! I took my last A levels 51 years ago!  ;D
