After a 20+ year break, I finally took the plunge and built a couple - skills still a bit rusty, especially brushwork

welcome back to the madness, you will soon find  the old skills will be back
Me, I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest.
Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

The most important is that you enjoy again and be happy with this hobby, after all, It´s only a hobby.

They look pretty good for someone who hasn't picked up a brush in over twenty years.  Keep at it & the skills will improve in no time!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Good stuff!

That's a hell of a come-back, and well done on the brushwork too, from another died-in-the-wool brush painter.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

If that's the standard  after 20 or so years  break, just think how exceptional it will be once you have a little bit of practice.

Absolutely  Wellcome back
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Nice one (well, two).

I came back to the fold after a 20 yr break three years ago: never looked back! (Trying not to think about the 300+ kits now residing in my attic though...)

Both very nice builds LO.  As one who hasn't put glue to styrene in quite a few years, I can empathise with your concerns, but these seem unfounded going on the above examples.

Welcome back.  Simple kits are the best way to get your groove back.  I found after a long break I had been too afraid of an airbrush and spray cans. They can do wonders and you don't need to spend a fortune.  Start with some rattle cans then a single action airbrush with simple schemes or solid colors. Then to cammo.  Absolutley agree with Pablo- do it for yourself-not to show off.

I can only echo others' words - "Welcome back".  I too took a hiatus of about 20 years.  It is good to come back to something you enjoy.
