Nice one Pablo, and very interesting to me, because I too have been looking at options to re-engine a Hellkat.

I'd looked at Wyverns, so it's nice to see the theory proven. I suppose the logical thing to do with the leftover bits is to put the big radial on the Wyvern airframe....

I try this with a P-47. See this: http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,29823.0/highlight,thunderbolt+to+vietnam.html

Makes for a very different looking Hellcat, beautiful finish on it too!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Love the checker tail and desert camo. It took me a second to figure out the aircraft you used,  Wow! :o ;D

Did they ever fly the Allison V-3420?

And how is it superior to the DB 606, they're both two V12s geared together?

My question as well. From what I can find, on the V-3420 both V12s would share a single supercharger. Maybe there were more bits that you don't really need two of?

Here's one aircraft it flew in Kit,

Then there was a B-29 re-engined with them, and the XP-67 Moonbat, the XP-75 which all flew with the engine installed.

^ The XP-67 had a pair o' Continental I-1430s didn't it? The initial proposal was designed around a V-3420 though.

I'm sure I've said this elsewhere but that is a kickass model btw!

Well actually I did account for the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 P-47 in terms of weight and displacement (18 cyl) and compare it with the Allison V-3420 and I think its 24 or so cylinders can be reconciled with one compressor but this very technical issue is beyond me. DB606 was still really a couple but the Allison engine was a single engine.

Another plane with a V-3420:

Really I think so but I´m not sure all prototypes have the same engine.
