What if you are the military adviser/admiral/dictator/brother/etc had spent money for aircraft, when the boss tells you they need a carrier. Your Breakaway republic/merchant fleet/Micro-nation/mercenary force/PMC/Armed Wiffers/etc have only enough money for an older model of carrier, or to build one of such size and tech level.

In other words, you pick a WW2 era carrier, yet have to outfit it with newer, or relativly newer planes.

The Royal Navy know all about that, HMS Hermes was laid down in 1945 and took part in the Falklands War. HMS Victorious took part in WWII and was still active in 1968!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

HMS Hermes is STILL active with the Indian Navy as the INS Viraat, and is expected to serve until 2020....

F-4s, A-4s, A-7s, AV-8s, S-2s, E-1s, and helicopters could all be found today in sufficient numbers to give a WW2-sized carrier an air group.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Also, if it was today, you'd be seriously limited in what was available from WWII, unless you raid one of the four Essex class museums, or the Midway in San Diego for a carrier.  What time period are you talking?

I'd bring back the Bonnie....the most capable, kick-donkey small carrier of all time ! And might I mention...Canadian ! Sea Kings, CA-4s, and Turbo Trackers.
