I did a One Man Show at a local village carnival today, amongst the local arts club, tapestry ladies and bowls club etc., you know the sort of affair. One of Mrs PR19's friends was running it and heard about my models and asked if I'd be willing to display some of them for the afternoon, thus my recent thread about repairs etc.

I managed to get around 65 models together, pics below, divided between 1/72 military, 1/144 airlners and my Whiff models on one end. Normally at the shows we do the 'audience' are mostly modellers are already aware of the Whiff genre, but today my audience not only didn't know about Whiffs, most of them didn't know about 'serious' plastic modelling either. It was interesting to see their responses when they came to the Whiff end of the table, some didn't bother to read the sign at the back and just assumed they were other models, some who obviously had some aviation knowledge became very confused until I explained the 'logic' behind them at which point they divided themselves into two definite camps.

The first lot were fascinated and wanted to know more, but the second lot just DIDN'T get it at all and tended to wander off with dazed looks! One guy even went as far as saying I shouldn't have built them!

And interesting but tiring day.  ;D

I used to do a large stand for my old cadet squadron in the model tent at a large local steam rally.

I had pretty much the same response from joe public. Ill see if I can find the old photos.
I always hope for the best.

You destroyed the balance of the scale world! I can hear the baking soda volcanoes erupting now!

Wonderful display!

You're lucky it was on the ground, normally it's at 65000 ft plus of course.  ;D

Top notch display there Kit - nice one!

As for the JMN wannabe, consider it a victory. He was an idiot, now he's an annoyed idiot: result!

We should really develop a JMN "kill marking", have some stickers made up then slap one on the stand every time we get one....

This is a most impressive array, and I'm in awe of the skill displayed.  You didn't happen to see any men in black hanging around taking surreptitious photographs of the  ultra long winged aircraft on display did you?

What's the big blue KLM beastie at the back there? Haven't seen that one before....
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Men in Black? Hm, now you mention it there were two guys who never took their shades off...........

The 'KLM Beastie' is an Airbus A390, the backup for the A380, made from three Beluga fuselages with A340 wings and 4 x A330 engines. Its main claim to fame is the 'Promenade Deck' at the front of the upper cabin, so the pax can look at the scenery while it cruises at low level sometimes.  ;D

Now that's a *wide*body airliner  ;D
Well they keep saying obesity is on the rise.  This is just Airbus getting in ahead of Boeing for the flying fatties.
Reality is for people who can't handle Whif!!

Now with more WHATTHEF***!! than ever before!

Neat one kit !!

could do with a large wrap-around bomber-style glass nose tho -- just so that more people can wet their pants on landing.

I saw on the TV recently where Airbus is developing a transparent fuselage so that everyone can see out 360 deg. -- who's going to be the first model company to do a clear-molded kit of an airliner ?  Tamiya did a transparent Mig-15.
you may as well all give up -- the truth is much stranger than fiction.

I'm not sick ... just a little unwell.

Some years ago Nitto did a 1/72 model of a YS-11 and that had two fuselages, one in clear and one normal. But I've never seen one built 'in the clear' yet.
