Bit late, but for an LRMPA, how about Artemis, Greek goddess of the hunt? (Variation on the theme set by Nimrod)

You won't be able to have any that are the same with all the vowels removed in that case

I suppose you could have  THOR  strike aircraft , armed with Mjolnir  missiles (if I have spelled Thor's hammer correctly) or the ODIN  phoo recon aircraft, operating  Hugin and Munin drones (Odin's ravens, I think)    One might even go in for what I think the Russians call "Maskirova", disinformation  and jamming from a LOKI  attack transport.

Or how about the Vickers Weyland , with all of the  blacksmiths forge-associated  words

I could get to like this game of mythology and whiffery, thank you  to all those who have contributed !

One of my long term projects will be what I have provisionally called Vulcan 2000. I intend to produce something radically different. For a start, it will feature a tandem cockpit and, I intend to use the Olympus engine parts from the Airfix 1/72 Concorde. With a bit of judicious cutting of the Vulcan wings, they should fit without TOO much trouble!! I will of course have to fair over the wing root intakes!

There will be one other major change involving the wings but, I'll leave that for now.. It will certainly be different from my last Vulcan !
I have now (after reading this discussion) decided to use the name Thor. Going from a god of fire to a god of thunder ain't so bad I reckon!

I'm useless at coming up with names. As part of the Kingdom of Yorkshire history I've got the history of the Royal Yorkshire Air Force. Aircraft names for Blackburn and Airspeed and later the Yorkshire Aircraft Corporation created by the merger of the two companies. Even my codes don't make sense at the moment.  ;D

Good Heavens!  A variable geometry ornithopter Vulcan. This I must see!  It should  baffle and confuse the oppostion into submission.

;D If only!! I must admit that an Vulcan Ornithopter might be just a tad much!!

However, I made a couple of slight mods for my previous Vulcan "what if". The next one will, as I said, have a few more little modifications!

I decided on "Firedrake" as the name for my forthcoming US version of the Wyvern as,given that a Wyvern is a mythical creature from ancient English heraldry, I reckoned it might be a bit "way out" for our transatlantic friends ( no offence folks!) A firedrake is simply another (perhaps more familiar) name for a fire breathing Dragon

Hm, I've got plans for a 'Firedrake' too, but in my case it's Russian, a cross between a 'Firebar' a 'Mandrake. Think about it.....  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Patchwork World stuff names:

Avro Archer: Fighter. Alliterative, and Cheshire used to be known for it's archers.
Avro Atom: Gnat-sized light fighter, so evokes "small but mighty", "mighty atom" etc...
Avro Avenger: Strike aircraft. Suggests vengance on anyone who attacks Cheshire.
Avro Ambassador: 6-seat VIP version of Avenger. Suggests exactly the sort of role it might be used for.

In PW Mikoyan is a literal "design bureau", i.e. a drawing-board-for-hire outfit that provides designs for local manufacture the world over. As part of their contracts they insist on designations that promote their involvement, the usual convention being similar to the RW designer-name-acronyms (like MiG), but reflecting designer plus factory instead. Thus we have:

MiF-91: Mikoyan-Fiat (model is a MiG-9 with a G-91 front end)
MiCh-12: Mikoyan-Chadderton, being built in the People's Republic of Greater Manchester.

Looking over things, maybe I’m not that bad with coming up with names. One of the ‘past’ RYAF fighters was a version of the Saab Tunnan. It’s nickname was the flying barrel, so to make it more ‘Tyke’ it became the YAC Firkin. Most of the ‘current’ KoY aircraft are (with a few exceptions – Vulture and Albatross) based on birds common to Yorkshire:

YAC Kite – Fighters/interceptor
YAC Lapwing - Trainer and Light Fighter
YAC Razorbill - COIN/attack aircraft
YAC Raven - strike aircraft (named after the old Norse Raven Banner – which is also the Royal Yorkshire Navy War Jack)
YAC Wagtail – attack aircraft
YAC Vulture – Long Range Strike/Photo Reconnaissance
YAC Gull - ASWs
YAC Puffin - AEWs
YAC Albatross - Long Range MPA/ASWs
YAC Teacher – single-engine piston Trainer
YAC Osprey – Naval figher-bomber for the Royal Yorkshire Navy

Some have kept their names:

YAC Beverley - transports
YAC B-107 Super Beverley – transport/AAR
YAC AS.57 Ambassador – light transports

And some just use codes - AS or B distinguishing what half of YAC it came from:

YAC AS.91 – single-engine monoplane trainer
YAC B-114 multi-engine jet Trainer
YAC B-142 jet transports

For the ships I’ve gone with cities, towns and depending on class (e.g castle, pioneer etc) various landmarks and native folk.

With me, I usually take a good look at the model and ask myself what is the purpose. Try naming your model after stars or the planets.

I stumbled across this unusual naming practice

HMS Champion was a screw corvette launched in 1878. She was reassigned to harbour service in 1904 and was renamed Champion (old) in 1915 to free the name for the next Champion under construction. She was sold in 1919.

In a separate thread I stated that I had a plan for a set of future builds:
(Aircraft Carriers)
USS William J. Clinton, USS Richard M. Nixon, USS Warren G. Harding- These would be a post NIMITZ class of US Navy carriers the wags would call SCANDAL- Class.

USS James K. Polk, USS William H. Harrison, USS Calvin Coolidge- Relatively "unknown" US Presidents, these would be Stealth Carriers.

Armored vehicles:
I have been thinking of creating some armored vehicle that might be as overdone as anything that can be found in the WARHAMMER Universe and calling it HONEY BADGER (after the youtube video of course).

Aircraft:
Of course, I could use the HONEY BADGER name for some kind of aircraft that not only kills radars but also kills tanks and other fighters and bombers.  Basically an advanced WILD WEASEL.
