@Scooter: How many lights you all need?

Honestly, the town I ride for, and most towns, get away with the "normal" amount of lights on the bus- a pair of grille and intersection lights, one (1) lightbar across the front and back (optional), and a total of 12 flashing lights on the box.  Teaneck obviously feels they need to reflect off low hanging clouds, have a generator just for the lights, and win awards a wetdowns for "Most lights on an ambulance."  They got the name "God Squad" because of that first item.  They were transporting to the area trauma center (mind you, 10 minutes from anywhere in Teaneck), and one of the medics standing outside remarked that it looked like "The Hand of God coming down through the clouds".

The more lights the better!  As a retired cop, I used to get called out to escort the fire trucks to calls since the people on the roads never seemed to see the lights or hear the sirens/air horns trying to clear traffic.  Half the time I used have to pass the cars and stop in front of them with my lights on and wave the FD around us, then catch up to the trucks.

Sometimes though, there's what's called "overkill".  We have 5 hospitals and one ER only facility, in my county (that includes the county psych hospital).  At the most, its a 30 minute Code 3 transport to the furthest one (rush hour).  Teaneck VAC simply has way too much money to spend.

From what we have heard is that the guy that put up the building is a one-man operator and he doesn't have insurance.

Nice shots!  I got some of one of Yorkshire Air Ambulance's MD902's almost exactly a year ago, it's the same machine that ferried Richard Hammond after his prang.  I was trying to a pick of it on it the ground when he sprang up very quickly, first shot was blurry but he had the courtesy to hover fairly low so I could get a decent pic with my point & click.  I think the GNAA has a better livery though.

Not necessarily!   Some of us oldies have been Merticised, or Decimated or whatever and  can work in both Imperiasl and SI

This makes me realise how good my local drivers can occasionally be . Watching  ambulances navigating thick traffic in Carlisle with buses and 40 ton (or tonne) artics  performing impossible moves to clear a path is quite something. An ambulance driver once told me he can usually manage a steady 20 mph though virtual gridlock . I have no doubt other cities can claim the same...................on the other hand, I was badly cut up this morning by either a nun or a very large penguin driving a Nissan Micra to the detriment of public tranquility.

OGL has a Renault Scenic now, and as I recall the piccie (they won't load at the moment....) there was a Scenic in there too......

Same make, wrong model, the Renault people carrier in those photos is an Espace. not a Scenic.
