I like the wiffies and don't want to see them stop. However  the inability to upload a pic directly has stopped me nominating for this, and also from posting pics of builds.

Just do what I've been doing recently. Post a link to the origional thread. I know Alistair (Gondor) does this as well

Chris

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

Another idea for more categories. Any scale modelling site can vote for a "Best Jet Model of the Year", so how about some wacky categories fore a wacky site?
Such as...
- best model with more putty than styrene
- best model from more than three models" (oh, wait, that's best kitbash)
- most boomstuff per wing area
- best whif most likely to fool a JMN
- best shouldabeen

Or announce a Whiffie Special theme for the year at the beginning of the year. Say, make 2012 the "Whiffie Year of the Tiger", making anything that has a tiger theme automatically join this whiffie category. I realize, though, that this might actually clash with the new take on GBs.

Anyway. Food for thought.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Was musing yesterday about possibly having a category for "best off site wif". We could award a wiffie to the best model that's been flagged up from another site and not done by a member ?

Philip, I enjoy them greatly.   However, a few months back, I thought it would be great if you could give yourself a break for a year from it.   R&R y'know.   We'd be plenty patient so that's not any concern.

I like the idea of deploying a commitee tp hunt down things to nominate. In the past, it seems to have ended up with me and Phil trudging through everything trying to find enough builds to nominate at the last minute. (Not sure about Phil, but I spent hours rummaging to fill my assigned categories last year)

Speaking as someone who tends to model in the more marginal categories, it's always a bit irritating when I get tons of positive feedback on something (say a car) which is in a category with very few noms, but no one nominates it for a whiffy...
This gets even worse when comments mention that a build, profile or backstory is whiffy material. If you think something is good, nominate it. It doesn't even have to be the best, the more nominations we post the better. You don't even have to know what category to put it in. Just nominate it, and we can sort out the categories later.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.
