there was an old English/Belgian singer (Mr John) who made a song on it: "You are only as old as you feel"

Or as Groucho Marx stated " You are only as old as the woman you are feeling"

I knew this sentence, but I do not agree, go through life, renewing the women who accompany you, it's torture to an aging much faster. Especially, when you match in the bathroom in the morning.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Greg (who at 38+ feels like he is surrounded by old farts!)

To misquote someone in the motor sport world, 'Age, experience and raw cunning beats youth, exuberance and enthusiasm every time.........'  ;D ;)

Grumpiness has entered my home and hobby room.
I actually found myself having to tell kids to stay off my property.
I can no longer see proper detail on my 1/700 ships, especially the photo-etch. (I have just one to finish, and after that, that's it for that scale with PE.)
Modern pop music annoys me.
Too much alcohol ruins my sleep, and coffee no longer has any effect on my system.
I've left my garage door open overnight.

I AM NOW OFFICIALLY OLD.   :o

I have to build a fun, funny model, or I might as well call it quits.

I've done quite a lot of those, and I'm 26. But then I've been a grouchy old git since I was about 14.  :banghead:
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

There I come with 17 years ;D  But they say, Many years living, many experience!! You are as old as you are feeling!

Cats are not real.
They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!

Knowing your line of work Geoff, I can well believe that statement lol

Wow, I am feeling pretty young now (15 days until 51).

I agree though that this forum is the ideal place for a quick fun build.
Oh, and the SFSF TB is the perfect place to experience that.

By way of explanation for my rant:
:banghead:
This has been me working on a museum-quality real-world USS NJ in 1/700 at a very specific point in 1983. I have reached the point where I'm snapping off bits as I build it, and I keep finding things I need to add, and I screwed up the paint job on the after deck, and the Shtoof refuses to allow me to glue bits on, and then I still need to complete the USS Midway to go with it and I'M DRIVING MYSELF NUTS. Today, I declared it done once I've repaired the port anchor and created the refueling nozzle, and will post pictures soon.

HOWEVER, there was a point I forgot to include in my original posting, something that revived my whiffing instincts, and a surprise to me that will tweak the nose of JMNs. Here's an example.

http://www.msc.navy.mil/N00p/pumahelos.htm

The United States Military Sealift Command is using old Puma helicopters for vertical replenishment aboard USNS supply vessels for the USN, painted white. At first I thought these were UN helicopters being supplied and fueled by the USNS ships, but a quick search found that they are actually being used in service. I haven't been able to find out why this happened, or when, and why they chose to go with refurbished French helos instead of new or reworked US-built models.
Now all I need are a Puma of the right vintage and a minor twist to history that causes them to be repainted in USN camo and markings.

As for those meddling kids, I'm scheming how to get them into my hobby room and OFF MY DAMN LAWN before they break their fool necks!

Thank you for letting me vent.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Hmmm, must be catchy.  Found out earlier this year I was diabetic and my latest pair of spectacles are my first bifocals.  Turning 40 sucks.  A quote I like to use-"it's not the age, it's the milage"- Dr. Henry Jones Jr.

Stargazer

Nice topic! I feel grumpy at times, more and more annoyed by the kids, betrayed by my own body and out of touch with music that yells stuff like "champagne showers" or "I just wanna make you sweat"! And I'm only 46, damn!!! So it's nice to know I'm not the only one... I quite agree that whiffing madness is an excellent cure for that half-century blah feeling...  :drink:

When I joined this page, back in 2003 I was looking for something different, and realised I wasn't the only nutter willing to put a radial engine on a Spitfire. And with PE, if I'm looking at the one model I want to build 'before I die' and see the words, 'Photo Etched Parts', I put the model back on the shelf. I haven't the patience or the skill for small parts any more. I'm 63, but don't see myself as "OLD", my mum is 87....and as said, 'you are as old as you feel'....................yeah, some days I feel like I'm 100, but then I have a Vodka, and maybe a nice sleep!

I did a lot of those when I was 25...

I whinged about the youth of today and 80% of the music while I was still in secondary school.
