I wasn't expecting Yellow   Very difficult colour to get good coverage with. How did you do it ?

Thanks, Narses2!

Actually not quite yellow.

I did a primer layer using Tamiya Fine Primer (white), followed by an all-over coating of Tamiya TS-27 Matt White, then came a coat of TS-46 Light Sand, with a light top-coating of TS-73 Clear Orange, for the upper surfaces (actually it's TS-73/TS-46/TS-73 because I mixed up the lids when I did a test shot about 5 days ago :banghead: ). All rattle cans as I don't have an airbrush (yet?).

In person it actually looks quite a bit more orange.... light browny orange.... :-\

I haven't finished the painting, you know. There's still another colour to be applied, for which I may switch to a brush. ;)

Cheers Mr Wombat  Must admit I use rattle cans for white & yello as I'm a dyed in the wool hairy stick user  ;D

And the fire-nut has it!

Yes, pyro-manic got it right:- tiger stripes! Which are now done and, even if I do say it myself, they look pretty good right now (my 13 y.o. daughter said "That [the C-119C(T)] looks cool!").

Photo's will follow soon but, now, however, I need to protect the stripes before I add decals (some kit, some custom). I'm going to do this with Testors dull-cote, first, because I believe it is the least likely of my clear coats to cause crazing/smudging of the surface paintwork. Once that has dried for a day or 2 I'll hit it with either a brush-coated layer of Pledge (Future) or Tamiya clear gloss, to put the decals on over. After that I'll do a final clear coat.

That is where I'm having some difficulty, if I use Future for the pre-decal coat I can use any of my clears (dull-cote/Future/Tamiya gloss), if I use the Tamiya gloss.... well, I only have enough for one coat & I wont be near a supplier for a while. So, either Future or Tamiya gloss for the final coat will give me a shiny gloss but I've found that dull-cote over gloss gives quite a nice satin finish.

:banghead:

Any suggestions? :-\

Interesting scheme.  Looks almost like the old IPEC sheme I used to see on the Argosies which flew around Australia.

Thanks, folks! Much appreciated! ;D

MA101, this is going to be a civilian bird (Australian registered) used for wildlife rescue missions. I don't have much of a back story but (I think) there's a link at the beginning of this thread to the thread in the General Modeling/Ideas forum that started it all (if there isn't I'll put one at the end of this post).

Not guts, Cobra; just a love of the animal & all those awesome aircraft patterns (esp. the Czech ones), & being born in the (Chinese) Year of the Tiger. Plus the kit cost about $3/$4 at a community market stall, so the biggest financial outlay has been paint. ;)

coolpop; I hate to sound big-headed but, yeah, I pretty much agree.
