Old Wombat

This is what started it all.

I've been working on it in my own, slow manner since completing the Defender Mk IV.

This build is pretty much a stock-standard C-119C with a few modifications (plus a special paint job and home-made decals.... which I hope I don't stuff up when I get to them).

No "in prog" photo's today but I'll get some up in the next day or 2.

Cheers,

Guy.

OK, some piccies....  ;)

Let's start with a box;

The Italeri 1/72nd C-119C that my wife & daughters found at a local church sale for AU$3.

Now onto what (little) has been done, so far...

Still some painting & stuff to do before I'm ready to join the halves but you get the gist of what I'm doing with the inside.

Any feedback & ideas would be welcome, ladies & gents............... :blink: ................. & all you whiffers out there! :wacko:

Thanks,

Guy

PS: Nothing to do with modelling but they're cute;

Sierra (14 yo... I think);

Ozara (abt 18 mths);

Great interior Wombat! Cute kitties too, Ozara is a ringer for next doors cat Franjo (13 and a half) who keeps wandering in and tries to help with the model building!

Cobra: thanks for the inspiration! :bow:

RussC: I like putting quirky little details like that into my models, makes them feel like they are mine & adds a point of interest for anyone who decides to look closer. :thumbsup:

C-119's are not new aircraft & I wanted that to show. Hopefully I have & will manage to do that on the interior, have it look a bit shabby with age without going too far & making it look derelict. The exterior I intend to (try) to make fairly pristine, with just a few oil streaks (radials, ya gotta love 'em ;D) & exhaust stains.

To everyone: thank you for your attention & comments, they are much appreciated! :cheers:

For those interested: Ozara is a "Bengal Cat" with Asian Leopard Cat in her ancestry (14 mice in one day last summer - for the Aussies; yes, they were mice & not native ones, I checked).

She & Sierra both tried to help with my photography. Speaking of which: sorry about the poor focus but my little camera didn't want to focus on the model but preferred the background, even in macro mode. :unsure:

PS: does anyone know where I can find some "different" 1/72nd figures for the crew and/or some 1/72nd wildlife? :-\

Cockpit looks great! :thumbsup:

For the figures, what do you mean by "different"? The Airfix Shorts Skyvan has military and civilian crew figures, so anyone who's built a military one should have the civvies to spare. They're in airline uniform type outfits: peaked caps, jackets etc... Usefully, they also have separate arms, so you can change the pose.
