I had no idea that this machine was gonna be so powerful, it will be a first-class freighter.

Kit; the model was on sale at either 20% or 30% off normal HLJ retail & I bought with the AUD relatively strong against the JPY. Also, coming from Japan, it was sans Aus GST (similar to UK VAT), because Aus hasn't gotten around to taxing incoming private purchases...........yet.

Pablo; yep, this baby is powerful! Combined the new Allison/Rolls-Royce T56-A-427A engines give an increase in power to almost equivalent to adding a third Pratt & Whitney R-4360-20 engine, while reducing overall weight by about 1,750 kg (or about the weight of one Pratt & Whitney R-4360-20). While obviously allowing a heavier payload to be lifted from good runways, I see this extra power as being utilised by this aircraft more for getting standard loads airborne from shorter bush airstrips in Africa, SE Asia & South America, etc.

By the way, here are some pic's of the C-119's display-buddy, which I built while waiting for the Hawkeye to arrive.

To get this vehicle from what there was available at my LHS I had to combine the cab from an ICM URAL-43203 Command Vehicle with the chassis & flat-bed from an ICM URAL-375D Army Truck (not exactly difficult, as the chassis sprues are identical).

I'll get onto Frankenwhiffing my Preisser "Civil Airline Personnel, Travellers & Ground Crews",Preisser "USAAF Pilots & Ground Crew 1942-45", Hasegawa "US Pilot/Ground Crew Set" & Fujimi "Flight Deck Crew & Fire Engine" figures into suitable display people when I've finished the C-119C(T).

My... can't wait to see this one finished.

Thanks, Stargazer!

Just to keep your appetite up, here are some in progress shots.

I guess this gives you all some insight into the chaotic shambles I call "construction". ;)

Looking Good <_<  Hope to see More Great Work from You   Dan

Interesting idea, inverting the engines.   I don't see any different methods to what I use.  I'm pretty much a "get an idea and then suck it and see if fits" man, myself.   ;D

Yes a twin-boomer may be at the top of modernity, your model proves it! thanks!

About AU$25, including it's share of p&h of the order from HLJ, which is reasonable even if it ain't exactly cheap;

It's darn cheap compared to what it would cost us here in UK!!!!!

AU$25 works out as UKP 16.25, and to buy the kit from Big H in Lowestoft would cost FOURTY SIX POUNDS!  :banghead:

Someone, somewhere is being VERY greedy methinks!

Price when I was in Leeds Model Zone is the same iirc. Always wanted a Hawkeye, but can't justify paying £45+ for one!

Try EvilBay.  I often see them go for substantially less than that, including postage.

That must be down to ultra-greedy importers then?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Damn! £46? Got the Heller boxing (without the new props) for about six quid last year and you can get the 1/48th Kinetic kit for around £46 in the UK.
Great build Guy, those props look awesome!

This looks awesome!  Now I know what to do with an idea I had of a twin boom Neptune.  Those engines would look great!
