the spoof putnam book on our stand was a hoot!  ;D

That was produced by Mr. David 'Dead Pan' Hart, boss man of the 1/44 SIG. He's the guy who invented the mind blowing 'Echt Deutsch' range of spoof paints some years ago, and who's current 'range' includes things like 'US Total Inconspicuity Grey'........  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

David Hart is a wonderful chap.

Yup good show. Like Dunc my favourite stand was the Airfix (plus one Matchbox) kits built as per the box art

I'll post my photo's directly latter once downloaded. They only cover the SIG stand at opening time on the Saturday so I apologise for those I've missed in advance.

In passing does anyone know which club one the "best in show" ?

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Martin H

You can guarantee it wasnt us LOL

Sorry guys, had to make a very last minute decision not to go. :banghead:  I'm hoping to make Huddersfield, fingers crossed.  Glad you all had fun.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

hmm, i forgot to mention this yesterday, but one of my models this year at SMW, spent the whole
weekend, stuck on a traders stand and i wonder if anyone here spotted it?

it was on the modelcraft stand and was one of the brazilian produced F-5 two seater resin conversion sets they
import. naturally it was a whiff, as it was grafted on to the rear fuselage of an hasegawa F-20 tigershark to get a
F-20B and was marked up using some Bahraini AF F-16 [from model alliance] markings. it gets odder when you realise
that the bahraini's actually ordered several F-20's from northrop in the 1980's, but not enough to get full production going.

there have been several whiffed F-20's and mine is only the latest.

i also have no idea about winners at this years SMW apart from the fact that the 1/4 scale group trophy went to a F-11A tiger and
stayed in the UK for the first time in some years.

Toyed with the idea of going on the Sunday but then decided I'd be better of building some of the models I've already got than buying more...

I also liked the display that recreated classic Airfix box-art in model form, I really liked the Mirage III attacking an Egyptian airfield build, as per the box artwork. Then there was the excellent Quarter Scale SIG "Dogfight Doubles" display, very nice indeed.

Capital idea! Did anyone do the "wrong" ones, like the Panthers in the desert?  ;D

Whiffery appeared to be the order of the day (well, both days in fact) - at least as far as aircrfat went - I think I saw at least one whif on each SIG, club and branch stand.
Is whiffing the new black?  Is it the new orthodoxy?  Should we be moving on to more hardcore/extreme whiffing?

Anyway, the true home of whiffery is here in all its glory:

Great weekend chaps, not the models (well, a bit, of course) but the company made for a memorable event.  Here's to Milton Keynes in February!

I think Mike McEvoy is onto that one Kit............The cretin that is the current editor will be educated. It should also be pointed out that Jay Laferty was once a member of this very forum, if only to plug his own "Master Casters range" of resin .
