OK, I said I wasn't going to mention it until the show, but in my haste to self promote last month I forgot I had already said what it is in a couple of press releases, notibly in SAMI out this weekend, so it won't be a secret will it?!

Thanks to the loan of a Hawker Brochure from Thorvic, the extra conversion set is for the P.1130 in 1/72nd scale. Sounds exciting but what is it? Well the P.1130 was an RAF All-Weather Fighter proposal based on the export Hunter T.7 from May 1958. Imagine the P.1109B nose on a two seater and your not far off. The proposal was for fitting of an AI.18 radar nose along with twin Aden cannon, Firestreak missiles and an Avon Mk.203 engine.

Rather than duel control the cockpit features a radar operators position, for this we have included a new instrument panel with scope on the right hand side. We have also taken the opportunity to correct a couple of issues in the kit, namely providing a pair of MB Mk.4 seats, new main wheels and a new nose wheel and let to replace the undersize items in the kit.

Now I will not deny the Xtrakit T.7 is a horrible kit, but many will have already invested in one and are wondering what to do with it. I have spent the last few hours battling to get the cockpit to fit (its a bit wide), my new nose fits quiet nicely after a bit of hacking around but I hope not to be defeated and will do my best to have an assembled display model in two weeks time.

So in total you get a new resin nose including the wheel bay, two seats, instrument panel, two Firestreaks, four pylons (two for using the kit drop tanks in the outer position), main wheels and nose wheel with leg. I don't have a final price yet but expect it to be well under £10. I suspect you could graft it onto an old Matchbox Hunter T.7 without too much difficulty if you have one of those to.

Let joy be unconfined!  ;D

With all the various Hunter project bits now available we could mix and match them to our heart's content, and to Colin's accountant's heart's content too I imagine.

That's great news Colin, I'll be picketing your stand early on at Telford.

Obviously I'll now have to find a Hunter trainer kit somewhere...   ;)

Glad to hear the conversion is coming along nicely and quite astounding as i only passed over the Brochure last month at the Sutton Coalfield show.

It should be a nice little conversion, ideal for some of those Two Seat Hunters and having the official brochure wil help spoil the fun of the skeptics who hadn't heard of the variant.

Just think of the potential use from the Hunter decals already available and the multitude of colour schemes.

BTW Colin have you told Mike McEvoy yet  ;)

I think my P.1083 wings will fit the Xtrakit fuselage better than the kits owns wings....

I suspect many will look at it and say 'oohh thats a T.8M isn't yet?, at which point they will be corrected.

Yes Mike knows about it, I am sure there will be a few colourful incarnations in the near future!

hmm sounds like my bank manager will be requesting yet another "chat" with me after the show.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

The Wooksta!

Given the availability problems with Aeroclub products at the moment, might it not be a good idea to get some of the wheels cast as replacements for the too small ones in the Revell Hunters?

I don't know if my accountant has a heart, otherwise she woudn't be an accountant would she? Her career choice! ;D

Rolead

That is a nice surprise although I thought it might have been the tandem Hunter, a la Tornado.

I also agree with the Wooksta, please make those wheels available separately.
