Had to start a thread for these photos of the Bell 207 Sioux Scout which was a modified Bell 47 helicopter ;):

Looking at it closely, I wonder if you could chop use part of a He-219 to create one in model form?

Greg

I looked at the first piccie and thought 'Greg's got the aspect ratio wrong, there's no way a Bell 47 is that shape!'

Then I scrolled down and the truth impinged itself on my brain......  ;D  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

what you do is take a Bell 47 & squeeze it between two street-trams -- same as the Keystone Kops did with their patrol-car   ;D
you may as well all give up -- the truth is much stranger than fiction.

I didn't take them.  They were however taken at Fort Rucker. There are more interesting pictures here:

Ha! I knew the guy at the controls looked familiar!
Cheers,

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

I've heard of an "aerial tractor"

but that's just rediculous  ;D

Thanks for sharing these pics! The one with you at the stick made me realize how narrow and small the cockpit of the 207 was. Also it's nice to see that it was painted black overall. From my black and white pics I had previously been under the impression that it must be painted in drab...

Ehi, where's this fantastic hangar? Maybe Fort Rucker? Civilian can visit it?

Ooops. Sorry about that! I'd gathered only the first half of that sentence.

Sure is. Wish I could roam those hangars some day. Especially since they've begun getting rid of stuff with "less historical significance" to make room. That's how the unflown, almost complete Boeing Vertol XCH-62A HLH prototype got scrapped a couple of years ago...

It wasn't the prototype.  AIUI, it was a mockup and apparently an incomplete one at that.  I understand your ire but it was apparently in a very bad way and on the point of collapse because of years of outside display.
