Which evil genius came up with the idea of rigging biplanes, and which fascist sadist decided that rigging scale model biplanes would be a wizard wheeze????? :banghead: :banghead:
Will probably clear out the few biplanes I have in the stash after this ordeal is over!!!!!

As a scarred and pyschologically damaged veteran of biplane rigging, my only advice is persistence and vast amounts of mind-altering substances.

I've only ever built one bi-plane, just because of the rigging issue. That singelton was one of my Dad's favourite Audax and was a labour of love of course, but I still didn't enjoy the rigging.

I don't mind rigging in larger scales as you can use things like "Bob's Buckles" - but 1/72  :banghead: :banghead: Avoid them like the plague now

What are you building ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Aeroclub do a very nice biplane rigging jig specifically aimed at 1/72 scale but does allow larger ones to be built out of it. I'm going to get one as I have quite a few biplane to build.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Bipes are scary until you've tried a full-rigged ship.
Good luck! And don't give up!
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

They said I was daft trying to train spiders to rig model biplanes but I will make my fortune yet, muhaha.

Not sure if they can be trained, but they can be influenced - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhTjifulPB8

In the October 2011 issue of Model Airplane International there is a mention of using Albion Alloy Round Nickel Silver Rod for rigging.

0.1mm diam for 1/72
0.2mm diam for 1/48
0.3mm diam for 1/32 and possibly for 1/48 (dependent upon subject)

Might be worth investigating.

I saw some of that stuff at the Southern Expo at Hornchurch this Spring and it looked pretty good too.
