I think this one, of the upcoming new Airfix Gnat is an absolute stunner:

Someone at the illustrators has figured how to use Google Earth for a backdrop or how to get some aerial shots from a stock photo company.

you mean it's possible to paint a Gnat in something other than RedArrows red ?

Nice !
you may as well all give up -- the truth is much stranger than fiction.

I'm not sick ... just a little unwell.

There's an all over yellow scheme too ----

I love the Dragon box art....Prillers FW190 over the D-Day beach was a face.....almost anything from Koike was great.....but I have to admit loving the early Airfix n matchbox stuff as I grew up on that.....was it a matchbox Do17 being shot up with an undercarriage leg dangling down.....??? Seem to remember a box with that on....late 70's I think.....

One boxart that got me to buy (and build) the kit is this one:

And it's also a whif, since this tank was never put into action.

Shigero Koike is an obvious one, and the old Airfix paintings take some beating. I do like a lot of Bandai's boxart for their mecha kits, and one of my absolute favourites is the series of 1:100 Five Star Stories kits done by Wave in the 90s. Here's an example:

Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

One I have really like of late has been this one:

Simple I admit and certainly not so spectacular as some, it still certainly has made it hard to avoid buying the kit!

Gotta say, the mid 90s to mid 00s Airfix art is pretty meagre, but most of the newer box art is wonderful, I do like the big Mossie and the SB2C Helldiver art...

NARSES2

Yup, Airfix appear to have gone back to the style of box art from the heydey of the marque. The Spirit of Roy Cross  Now that would be a good name for a wif presentation Spitfire  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

MilitaryAircraft101

Unfortunately, they've CGI'd G for George :( Same art, just in CGI, I got one of the last boxings before it changed :) But I do like the approach they're now taking towards box art.

I think it's great Airfix have started using Roy Cross' artwork again, but to convert it to CGI os just bad, it just doesn't look right. G-George boxart is a prime example of that I think.
If you love, love without reservation; If you fight, fight without fear - THAT is the way of the warrior

If you go into battle knowing you will die, then you will live. If you go into battle hoping to live, then you will die

MilitaryAircraft101

Yeah, maybe if they're going to have the CGI renditions of Cross's art, at least have the original somewhere on the box... (It is pretty big)

Dork the kit slayer

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
