I had that Atlantis kit as a kid - memories  ;D

As for CGI versions of classic boxart ? Have to be honest, it dosnt bother me a fig. I just look at it as a guenuine tribute to a great man. The world moves on and the origionals could well have been lost or be to fragile for use ?

It will appear to youngsters though, with actual scenes of fighting. Not as intense as Mr Cross's brilliant work, but much much better than that of the rubbish 90s box art.

Don't get em wrong Chris, I fully agree that the world moves on as does progress. I also think it's good that the Cros' originals are being rendeed into CGI is good. the point I was trying to make is that they look 'diminished' when compared to the originals.

Must admit I can't say that I've noticed that, but then you have seen the thickness of my glasses  :banghead: ;)

I know the photo well. It was taken by legendary NZ aviation photographer and writer John King during the NZ Tiger Moth club's 2007 flying weekend in October that year. This photo was also the back cover for the summer 2008 issue of Sport Flying magazine which featured my piece on the event.

In no particular order, I'd nominate the following ;

Airfix B-29 - The original one with the formation of B-29s being attacked by Japanese fighters

The damaged Lancaster about to land (Airfix)
Original Airfix B-17 box art
The Airfix Wellington - where the damaged bomber is being pursued at low level by two BF-109s
Airfix Sunderland
Airfix Junkers JU 88
Airfix Junkers JU 52 (especially the new one featuring the float plane version)
There are of course a multitude of others so, I've included the above for examples only. Too many to list really

This "modern day" offering is I think quite atmospheric.

The earlier Revell 72nd stuff had in the main quite eye catching art work to.

I take it in google images, and thank you for the clarification.  :thumbsup:

A fave of mine among Airfix box art is the one from the jet age of Mirages in the 6-day war
