You can often pick up bargain kits from non-standard outlets in the January sales, so it's worth keeping an eye out now for what's gonig to be around. Mixed news so far:

Marks and Spencer: have had a small range of kits in previous years, but there's no sign of any in the Stockport branch despite the fact that they HAVE got their Christmas toy range in.

TK Maxx: have got a desultory collection of kits in at some serious bargain prices already. Highlight is the Revell 1/32nd Apollo craft (CM+SM) with clear panels and internal detail for £20, compared to the RRP of £36. They also have some 1/32nd Piper Cubs, some 1/35th M901 ITOW vehicles, and various Star Wars things, all Revell and all at similar propotional discounts.

Debenhams: havn't looked yet, but it's worth checking if you're passing one.

Feel free to add further info as you get it.

hi

M and S in Aberdeen have Bug^er all I am affraid, could only see the 1/72 Revell Spitfire mk5 on display onm Saturday there, unless there are more to follow? will check again at the weekend. In recent years their xmas kit options have been reasonable so we will have to wait and see.

Waterstones in Croydon have some Airfix kits in, mainly the starter packs.

The Works (bookshop) in Harlow had a small pile of Airfix Mitsubishi Zeros in the new style boxing, all £4.99 with paints and glue included.

Ooh  -we've got one of those: I'll check it out when I get the chance. They have been known to have piles of cheap Kitech stuff before now.....

Got a feeling that was them clearing out the old mould stocks whilst waiting for the new tool to appear. A bit naught having both ald and new tools out on the shleves but i guess they hedged their bets for Pearl harbour if the new tool kit was delayed.

Must admit they are my first call for Airfix now, it's just that I don't understand their stocking policy on new relesases  :banghead: Still the guy in charge is a railway man

You're better off paying a few extra quid for the Airfix Spitfire Vb.  Better kit all round, despite it's age.

The M&S boxing is £9-odd, though, so it's not cheap.

Nearest TK Max to me is Preston, went in there on monday, and got the Revell 1/72nd scale Tiger meet gift set thingy. Has a Mirage 2000C with french markings and some very striking tiger meet decals, an RF-4 in german tiger meet markings. RRP £26.99, they are flogging them for £14.99.
Needless to say I did, as the Mirage has a nice weapons set with it, ie 8 DURANDAL's and the appropriate pylon, 4 air to air missiles and a munitions despenser of some sorts   along with some drop tanks. I wanted the mirage just for the Durandals as I want to arm something up with them. Result really as for the price I would pay for the mirage on its own, I got a free RF-4 Phantom.....result??

£9 quid?  For a kit that's not even worth £3?  They can hadaway and bollards!  Definitely get the Airfix Vb instead...

Unrelated topic really but that's never stopped us has it ?

I stuck my head in Alders of Croydon's Hornby concession yesterday and a lady was looking through the "Dogfight Doubles" and loked a little confused. I asked if I could help and she explained it was for her 6 year old Grandson's Christmas pressie. I said I though he might be a little young but she said his dad helped him make them and if she got the double boxng there would be no arguments or tears about who was going to fly he model after it was built  ;D Women understand us blokes to well as far as I can see  :banghead:

Anyways I adviced her to get the New P-40/Zero set as they were new tools and nice builds. I think this sums up the problem some of these concessions have. The staff don't know much about what they are selling. The guy in Alders is very good on the railway side but not hot on the kits. Probably means to many people end up with unsuitable kits and are put off the hobby ?
