Blimey, I'd forgotten just how much stuff they had there!

Surely we're not planning to 'replace' all of them, are we??  :o

I just may have a candidate for the Hunter T7, but with wheels.  ;)

Kit - no it's just halls 2 and 3 as per this post from OGL:

These are the two hangers im thinking of, Turns out what i thought where hangers 1 & 2 are in fact 2 & 3

Im thinking that the interactive area in hanger two would be the ideal spot for the Meteor PR19 and The High altitude Hurricane.

Ah yes, I remember now, sorry.

At least I don't have to finish the 'Hunter T7 replacement' now, 'cos the T7 is hung in the Cold War shed.

Ballcocks - I've just realised something: according to those diagrams, there's a Gnat in each of hangar 2 and 3. According to the museum website's listings for those hangars, they're BOTH single seaters in RAF markings, yet according to the aircraft list, they only have one.....

In any event, the Red Arrows one is definately in the Transport and Training collection, which is in another hall.

Bottom line: do you want me to do my G.91 in Red Arrows scheme or RAF cammo? Either is fine by me.

The Gnat by the Lincoln is a Two seater, the Single seater is next to the FD 2.

I think there's only one single seat Gnat at Cosford, chums.  Only saw the one in November.

They clearly show a single-seater Gnat in front of the Lincon's tail and an early Meteor in Green/brown cammo in between the FD.2 and the prone-pilot Meteor.

Don't get hung up on it guys, they've been known to move stuff!  The EE P.1 wasn't there the last time I went, but it was the first time.  If they take stuff out & put it back later I think it gets shuffled a little on occasions.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Not getting hung up on it as a general issue: after all, if we're replacing the real aircraft with unreal ones, then the layout of them is very much secondary. What I would like to know though, is where I stand with my RAF G.91: I don't want to paint it red and white to replace the Red Arrows Gnat and then have it decided that it's not wanted because the latter isn't in one of "our" halls. Painting grey and green over red and white is probably no fun at all.....

It's only the very 'died in the wool' Cosford-ites who will realise the models may or may not be in EXACTLY the same places as they are in the real Museum. Not to mention that they may have moved the real aircraft by the time we get there on the 1st.

What are we meant to be doing to make the display base and walkways and aircraft signs etc? Has someone got that in hand yet?

Last time I was there (the day before SMW) the single seater Gnat was between the mk1 meatbox and the FD2.

I should know what a Gnat F-1 looks like....I was a member of the central and east region aircraft recci team 1986 and 87.

As kit has already said, they may have had a move around before the show come up. The Shropshire club sec said a rearrangement of the aircraft was on the cards for this year............

I don't think it was our style of rearrangement they were thinking about though..

I didn't say you didn't know what a Gnat looks like Martin: my point was that the diagrams and the photos don't match, in a way that made me wonder whether making a replacement for the Red Arrows Gnat was worthwhile, since it seems to be in a hangar that we're not doing.

My core question is simply this: IF my RAF G.91 is to replace one of the Gnats, then should it be in Red Arrows colours like the 2-seater in the Training and Transport hangar or in RAF grey/green cammo like the one in the Warplanes hangar? I don't care what the answer is: I just want to know before I start painting it!

If its in the Reds scheme, it will be under what ever replaces the Lincoln :)
I wondering if Jim's seagnat would suit replacing the single seater.
