Might do a coat of Klear if it will dry by Saturday evening when I drive up to Telford, what do you think?

Klear dries good enough to touch in 15 mins and in 30 mins it's rock hard. It's FLOOR polish, for goodness sake!  :o

P.1111 - finished!

P.7D - nozzle painted, anti-glare panel painted, all canopy frames done, silver contrast panels touched-up. All it needs now are decals.

OGL showed a few piccies of my PR19b build in progress at the recent talk I gave on WhatIf modelling and I've just finished the last stages of the BIG PR19 for Cosford on Sunday.

Here's some taster pics of the whole aircraft but I'll post a complete build thread when I've recovered from Cosford.

Top view showing the TR1 style wings and tailplane, the MONSTER TF33-200 engines plus the enlarged fin-rudder and the ASARS2 nose cone

Underside view showing the rocket exhaust that replaced the rear half of the PR19's recce pod. Note the stainless steel deflector plate under the rear fuselage and the two remaining optical camera windows in the recce pod on the PR19b variant. The original Meteor landing gear is still used but has a much wider track than on the earlier PR19 marks.

Close up of the nose, showing the UK Altitude Record plaque awarded by the FAI, Wng Cdr Tim Wheeler's badge under the cockpit and its three 'mission markers'. The latter are difficult to explain as the only PR19b never was considered an operational asset but close examination of the markers shows a remarkable resemblance to a camera lens looking down on a map of Argentina ..........  ;)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Radish

AY CARAMBA!

Markings on the Tonka's fuselage, Klear drying.
Decals/transfers on the wings in about an hour.
Matt varnish everywhere (carpet, walls, model, etc) an hour after that!

My 2nd build for Cosford has just come off the production line.

As with the PR19b I'll post a build description after the event, but for now this is the Fairey Fulmar PRIIId, a conversion from 32 ex-FAA Fulmar FIIs when the RAF found their PR Mossies in the India-Burma theatre were falling apart in mid-air due to the failure of their glue joints. The PRIIIds were later upgrades from the original PRIIIs fitted with Merlin 60 series engines and featured a multiplicity of camera positions, three of which could have their magazines changed in flight.

Needless to say the PRIIId's wings were extended to improve the high altitude performance endowed by the use of the Merlin 60s.....  ;)

Nice one's Kit!

P.7D now has roundels, fin flashes, serials and warning triangles. All it needs now (this afternoon) are red spots in the roundels and maybe a few small maint. markings. A minor disappointment is that I havn't got any of those red-text-on-white-rectangle intake warnings you see on the sides of the P.1s and early Lightnings...

Dunc that's brilliant!    ;D ;D ;D

I've just hit another minor problem. The plastic storage boxes I discovered in B&Q which I though would be ideal for models turn out to have bowed bases: a slab of polystyrene foam doesn't sit flat in the bottom of them.... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Oh well, back to cardboard boxes... (the P.7D's fin didn't fit the new boxes anyway...)

Duncan, are you coming to Cosford tomorrow? I know you said you were taking a break from the 'modelling grind' but does that include coming to shows?
