Big is right, I was amazed quite HOW big the thing is.  :o

Reminds me that I still have my Italeri YF-23 kit in The Loft, once the model railway thing is out of the way in November I may take a closer look at it.

isnt that the intake of an F-14?

IT'S AN AIRFIX KIT!!

You can tell by the 'see-through', engineless nacelle...

I'll get my coat...

Someone should put out a new mold of these birds in 1/72... Don't know why i haven't shared this here before... http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/5089/
There are other ideas on the YF-23 there, give'm all a vote, maybe they'll hear us... ;D BTW, please vote on my other suggestions if you go there, we could use another F-35C kit in 1/72...  and also a PoAF edition of their F-16...

What happened to the OP of this thread?

As I recall it had a link to a web site which had lots of project drawings for F-23 developments, most of which were eminently modellable.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

No wonder it had such a low radar cross section- that engine and compressor blades are invisible!  ;D

^ Might that website be yf-23.net?

I had a look and while that one is very interesting it's not the one that I recall. Thanks for the link anyway, it's a great reference site.

the f23 was such a great looking airplane!
ps i wonder what the top speed was/wouldve been? i know they reckon it was REALLY quick, quicker than the f22 which isnt exactly slow

That F-23 site linked above says the aircraft never was tested to its maximum capability, only enough to ensure it complied with the USAF's requirements. Estimates on there say M 1.8+.
