More on the Gina, including sprue shots and decal options.  Frecce Tricolori, West German and interestingly the US Army evaluation aircraft.

Also a second boxing for the Dagger, one from the 111th FIS and marked as 'George Walker Bush'.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Just had a look at the Gina: really nice kit, very close to the kit that was offered by RoG some years ago. The US Army decal option is a nice & whiffy idea!

William,

Well, if the pilot is seated and as the bird in question is a ramjet, then I'll be to dispensing with the cute little fan blade disk the kit comes with to put in the front of the tube.  I'll be to dispensing with the one at its rear as well.  This will make for some artful fairing around the cockpit tube as it sits in the middle of the fuselage and thus square amidst the ramjet tube itself.

Thanks for the tip!

The only reference I could find was my copy of Japanese secret projects by edwin dyer from midland/ian allan. It gets three  pages there and still says that the pilot sat not lying prone. Illustrations are a 3 view and a nice picture.  much space is taken up discussing ramjets and the planned armament with the concept being dismissed as unworkable, partly helped by inappropriate armament choice.

meng really misunderstood the concept of a ramjet, though they are not the first, friend of mine really into aeronautics is doing lots of work on his to get it looking right, i am tempted to do it as a jet but properly more like a kikka or similar.
A recent review in Tamiya Model Magazine Dec 2012 perpetuates this, even if it was a jet the front fan is just way too far forward.

I've got a master for a ramjet engine front done, but I've never put it into production (actually Mike McEvoy had the only two test sets cast up, as he lost the first one!). Will hopefully get some cast up soon, its basically a conical piece to replace the front fan, to be sold in packs of two.

Hmm, ramjet nose intakes, eh? That opens up a horde of possibilities, would it fit an F-86 or Mig15?  ;)

Or an F-84 even?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I would buy a few of those if available Colin.

Agree re the Char and I'm sure I've seen something about an injected TOG but I can't remember where for the life of me  :banghead:
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The new release Leopard 1a4 interests me a great deal.   It's release has driven down the price on the old (and still adequate IMO) Italeri one.

As predicted Meng had the sprues for their upcoming F-106 at Telford. Sadly I managed to forget the batteries of my camera needed recharging  :banghead: so couldn't take any pics, but it looks just as good as their F-102. The sprues seem a tad odd as it looks as if they supply some of the extra stuff for the 2 seat B version in the A kit, but the fuselage isn't moulded with a break at the nose joint, so the B version must have a whole new fuselage moulding.

At long last the Six fans will have something else to worship other than the rather ancient Hasegawa kit, and the Meng version looks very 'worshipable'.
